    All gone!

Yesterday when we had GD2's birthday party I did a buffet. I was catering for 12 people, including 4 children, three of them gluten-free and one of those also dairy-free, plus one GF adult. The table was groaning with food - home-baked gammon, a side of salmon, all the usual accompaniments, salad, sausage rolls - orindinary and GF - cocktail sausages, French bread, cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, buttered crushed garlic potatoes, plain new potatoes, tomatoes etc, etc.

    Guess what went first?

A plate of halved hard-boiled eggs on a bed of salad leaves!!! The children went "Ooooh! Eggs!" and low and behold, they'd gone!!!

You would never have guessed that Daisy . I would have thought the eggs would be the last to go !

The spread sounds gorgeous Daisy but if the eggs would have had mayo on them and a dash of paprika I would have been there first

Qwerty - I agree - some mayo and paprika would have been lovely, but with two children and a couple of adults who are suspicious of 'bits' on food, I kept it simple!

DS2 commented today that he had just one half egg and went back for more and they'd all gone!!!

When I last did a buffet, which was mums birthday in September, of all the food on offer the egg sandwiches went first and I made a note to make more next time. Must be an egg thing!
It is funny what can be popular on buffets isn't it?

Gem - I was really surprise - I only did them as an after-thought, but next time I'll do lots more.

One of my SILs always keeps a few hard-boiled eggs in the fridge ready to use, and they really are handy for a quick meal or an addition to a meal.
