I can't imagine how I or indeed OH could possibly eat 10 fruit/ veg portions a day. I don't necessarily count how many we do actually eat each day but we always have lots of helpings of fruit/ veg. At breakfast time we always have fresh fruit with our cereal. Lunch time we have veg and we have apples oranges or grapes to nibble on during the day. I would have to slip in an extra meal time to get out quota up to 10
On a normal day, I don't think we could manage 10 either. There's an odd time, like tonight, when I'm using up whatever's in the fridge before hitting the supermarket tomorrow when we probably had 10 - Salad leaves, tomato salad, avocados, red peppers with new potatoes and tuna, plus a fresh fruit salad for pud, and I had parsnip and apple soup for lunch, and fruit with breakfast. but most days we do well if we scrape 5 in.

It is a stupid suggestion in my opinion. I think husband and I eat well and generally speaking we do get five a day but I go most of the day without eating to try to save myself from the perils of "loo attacks" especially when I am in meetings. Ten lots of fruit and vegetables in the evening would leave me extremely uncomfortable. Never mind, next week ten a day will mean that we are going to get some dreadful disease and we will be told not to eat green vegetables or yellow ones or carrots or something. Goodness knows where the money comes from for these research projects that tell us one thing one day and another the next.
If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together
Zizi - you're right! Next week all veg will be poisonous and fruit will only be edible if you've picked it 5 minutes earlier, or frozen it for 2 weeks.

Perhaps that was advised so that those who do not eat enough veg and fruit to aspire to 5 a day. I eat loads of fruit and veg, I had blueberries, banana, grapes, tangerine, sprouts and carrots yesterday and that is not unusual for me. I couldn't manage any more.
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
Well ladies I can honestly say yes I could eat 10 or more a day , I am a massive fruit eater in fact I can do without meals if I had too and live on fruit , we try to have as much veg as we can with our evening meal unless it's something that veg doesn't go with like shredded Duck , but come to think about it we always have cucumber spring onions and raw carrot with that so even then we get veg , but fruit is my favourite, I am always getting told off from the diabetic clinic as fruit is high in natural sugar , they keep saying one portion is how much you can hold in one hand , well I'm sorry but I can hold a full punnet of grapes or strawberries in one hand so that's no guide to me 😁😁😁. The only fruit I don't eat is Bananas not that I don't like them I absolutely adore them but I get very bad stomach pains and big blisters if I eat them 😦
Come next month it will all change I agree with Zizi where is all this money coming from for these stupid research,s
Maybe they need to pump up the sales of juice makers & the like. The only way to fit in 10 would be to blitz up 6 things together. 🍋🍌🍍🍎🍏🍐🍫🍓🍒🍅. Oops, sorry. How did chocolate get in there?

5 a day is not a struggle but 10 !!! As you say GM it would certainly keep us going! I don't think I'll be taking the advice, but I do eat nuts so I suppose that is OK!
