When is a treat not a treat?

Every so often, I'm offered something which I think of as a treat, but then am disappointed!

Someone gave us a box of Florentines - little discs of white chocolate and (I think) almonds. They looked so pretty and I'd never tried them before. I don't know what I expected, but ..... yeuk .... they were sickly sweet and I really did't like them. I tried a couple more just to check, but what a disappointment!

    Is it just me!

I'm not keen on them either Daisy. I was given a popcorn maker for a Christmas gift but passed it into DD1 as GS1 loves popcorn. As they say "One's loss is another's gain". 😉

        Plant - perhaps that's it - I'm a dark chocolate fan really.

Nana - I don't like popcorn either - even though I would like to like it for the odd occasion we go to the cinema!!

I love the dark chocolate ones the white are too sweet for me too , we have a popcorn maker but it's so noisy we have to put it in the utility if we use it I can't stand the noise , so it mostly lives at the back of the cupboard ,

Aggie - it's difficult to know what to suggest without hurting her feelings. All I can think is asking her if it's possible to freeze half, because you don't want to waste it ..... Perhaps someone else has a good idea?

If I lived closer Aggie, I would come and take it off your hands

I don't know what the answer to this problem is, apart from giving it away, or freezing it to produce if you have guests round for a meal.

Oh Aggie, what a dilemma, I think your friend must like baking not eating. Can't your family help out?

I know it's wasteful but I think I would just go on accepting them as it seems to give her pleasure and I wouldn't want to upset her.

Plant's idea is a good one, if you family will oblige.

I'm pretty sure they don't freeze, but just asking the question make prompt her to make you smaller ones more often. But I'm sure Clover is right - it gives her a lot of pleasure to make them for you.

                            Never tried the Florentines.
As for aggies dilemma, i'm with Clover on this one, just keep accepting them,it obviously gives her pleasure in giving them to you.

I would also just keep accepting the gift as your friend may be upset if she did not make one for you,and reading this post has just reminded me there is half a "Chocolate & Ice Cream Dome Bomb" shouting my name from the freezer I must do something about that to-morrow when I get in from work.
