As you all know I don't cook that's Brians job and he's excellent at it , but I have had no option these last 8 weeks with him being ill and I must admit I have been enjoying it, although I won't tell him that . All the skills I had years ago when the children were small and I did all the cooking have came back to me , even if I say so myself I've done some cracking meals , I have just prepared tonight's tea Liver, sausage, and onion casserole. It smells lovely but I find liver never tastes as good as it smells , I'm going to make some cheese scones in a moment I'm getting a right Fanny Craddock 😀 mind you I won't argue when he takes over again 😊

To be honest husband does most of the cooking but only because he wants to. I cook as and when I feel like it and I am a good cook (big head), I am not afraid to experiment. My lasagne, moussaka, spag bog are well known in the family. I am always asked to bake the kids birthday cakes and for family gatherings the dils always ask me to do the potato salad, quiche etc. I tend not to make things like scones because of only being the two of us and not seeing the little people during the week. I am not a great pastry maker, my granddad (who was a pastry chef) always said my hands are too warm! I buy frozen pastry, always have some in the freezer.

Oma I put spring onion tops finely shredded and a little dab of grain mustard, salt, black pepper, white pepper and a sprinkle of cayenne to finish. I put a bay leaf and bouquet garni in the pan when I am cooking the potatoes.
Libra I also organise the menus and do the shopping. All of the menus can be changed if we don't fancy what I have put or if we cannot be bothered to cook and decide on a jacket potato, cheese and beans (as last night).

My OH didn't do any cooking as such, he liked making marmalade although I did the boiling. He won first prize in the village show in the mens class judged by Mary Berry. I used to love baking, family love my apple pie and crumbleWhat is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

My ex husband was a brilliant cook and he loved it. As he worked long hours, I had to do the every day Monday to Friday cooking. He cooked Christmas dinner all the years we were together though, and all the holiday cooking when we rented villas, and the weekend cooking. He was much better than me. I am better than OH, who is an unimaginative cook who can only follow a recipe, and rarely cooks. I do miss being cooked for somewhat!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

I do all the cooking and always have done. I'm not very organised about it though and just throw ingredients together as I go along. The daily question I used to dread the children asking was 'What's for dinner, mum'. I'd never know what to say except wait and see. The nearest dish to a legend is a beef pot roast, but it often fails because of burnt roasties or something. I'd love OH to take an interest in cooking but he's never progressed beyond a cheese and chutney sandwich, but he does at least make the chutney, and sometimes jam."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. My OH does most of the cooking too, well used too, now he is a bit of a health "freak", basically fish or chicken, new potatoes and veg, i make mean pastries, home made pies, scones, etc but my cakes and yorkshires always let me down, i did blame the cooker, but new cooker and still the same...., grandkids favourite is mince and dumplings so if i know there coming that's what i make, not very adventurous in the kitchen so go a lot from recipe books..
