    Food for a friend.

I want to make some things for my friend to put in her freezer. She will be starting chemo soon, and want to make things that freeze well.
While i'm making things for our freezer, I can make extra for her freezer. I know she may not feel like eating, but her hubby will need to eat.

So far on my list I have

    Chicken and leek pies
    Steak and onion pies
    Beef casserole
    Cottage pies
    Chicken casserole

Any ideas would be welcome. They don't eat pasta and nothing with garlic in.

    What a kind thought Nan2.

That is a good selection. You could add Shepherds Pie made with minced lamb, and maybe Bolognese sauce so they would just need to cook some pasta with it. Lasagne, and fish pie are other ideas.
I'm sure they will be thrilled and grateful for anything you provide

What a brilliant, practical way to help your friend and her husband.

What about a couple of puds - portion sizes, if possible, eg individual apple pies/crumbles. Homemade soup might be very welcome, and something your friend might fancy if she can't face solid food.

What a lovely, kind idea. I think your choices are great, I agree about a shepherds pie and some soup. A couple of crumbles too.

I hope all goes well for your friend and I'm sure she will appreciate any help.

Flavoursome home made soups are a great idea ,I know by experience the taste buds go so a strong flavour is needed also anything with Pineapple if she likes it Pineapple helps with sore mouths
Chicken Korma is another one has lots of flavour but not hot ,
Hot pot and Liver and Bacon but again it depends if they like liver
For puds I bought those tin foil pudding moulds and did individual Treacle puds, Jam puds , Apple Charlotte etc .
I'm sure she will appreciate them also her hubby will ☺

I'm going to have to check up on some things,to see if they like them.

Chicken Korma will be ok, never thought of that.
Definitely will make some individual puds. I already have some of those foil dishes Oma.
All the things I am making are going in foil cartons and dishes, a bit less washing up for them to do.

Good idea about the fish pie Gemini, that's another one I didn't think of.

Thanks for all your input, much appreciated.

What a thoughtful thing to do Nan2. I well remember a friend of DD1 arriving with a dish of lasagne for me, saying she didn't know what else to bring. It was the best gift she could have given.

I did the same for DIL1 when she had the babies, made food and took it. I shall do the same for DIL2 (only 5 weeks to go!) trouble is she is a veggie and DS isn't, so I shall be making things for both of them and individual meals too!

                    Soups what a good idea!

I will make some in the soup maker and give to DD to freeze for lunches

Real comfort food. Just what is needed. My friend ate a lot of homemade chicken soup when she was having chemo!

I think homemade soup will be on the menu as well.

I thought my post had failed when I looked for it, but then realised that I'd put it on our Chat place. Hope the link helps as there's no meal cooking for you. You just put all the ingredients into a strong bag & freeze. DD has loved/still loving the one's I did for her.
