    The protective side of coffee!!

Whilst waiting for DD and SIL this morning in Costa in our local hospital, I saw this article in the newspaper. I have reduced my coffee intake over the years and now drink one or two cups a day, rarely more. I am glad to read that it may be a good idea for me to have a couple more

A panel of experts from the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, which convenes every five years, did a detailed assessment of the caffeinated beverage for the first time.

I always drink coffee, about 8 cups a day. I can't remember the last time I had tea.Don't dislike tea, just like coffee more.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I used to drink lots of strong black coffee. I still usually drink it strong and black, but much less of it. I sometimes even go a whole day without one, which at one time I'd have thought impossible. I drink tea or water most of the time, even after dinner at night. So it looks as though i could increase my coffee consumption this week! No doubt next week it will be all wrong again!!! I just get more confused - I notice the same article mentioned eggs, which are now good guys. That great - bad eggs aren't nice at all! LOL

I have to start the day with tea, not a big coffee drinker, I find it is usually too strong unless I have Latte which isn't good for the waistline

I have tea first thing, then a filter coffee. Probably 3/4 more teas. Recently drinking licorice and peppermint tea at bedtime. Really should drink more water but somehow never do! Too much coffee makes me feel all buzzy. Used to drink loads of black coffee when I was a teenager.

I like liquorice and peppermint tea too Shem.
If we have time for a morning drink in bed, which is more often than not, I have tea. Earl Grey or Lady Grey. Then black filter coffee with breakfast. If no drink in bed, coffee is the first drink of the day.
Throughout the day I drink water, and Earl or Lady Grey tea, and maybe a second cup of coffee .
I intend to drink more coffee. Bad press plus OH being a tea drinker means my coffee consumtion gradually dropped. I knew it was doing me some good

I haven't drunk tea for years, went off it when I was pregnant. I drink strong black coffee usually Gold Blend Barista style, sometimes filter coffee. I have one cup in the morning and then rarely more during the day unless we go out or someone comes to visit. I drink water and unsweetened orange squash which I use a filter jug in the fridge for and also small bottles which I get from Cost Co and always take with me when I go out. I object to paying a fortune for a small bottle of water at travel outlets. At least the Cost Co ones do not cost a lot of money! Before we were with them I would refill small plastic bottles from the fridge jug. Husband used to drink bucket loads of tea, usually Assam, but he rarely does now preferring just plain water during the day. I do sometimes have a herby or fruit tea but I need to be in the mood.

That's why I've carried on drinking coffee (and wine) all these years, ignoring the various health scares....
