    Shocking research

I hope this doesn't apply to our grandchildren, but what an indictment of the fast food industry.

It is indeed a shocking prospect if all the advances in medical science during the last 100 years are lost because of preventable illnesses caused by our choices about food, drink and smoking.

I know sugar is a major concern at the moment, but I think portion size has a lot to answer for as well. We've got used to having plenty of everything, and many of us were brought up to 'clear our plates or no pudding'! In the present context, that's a double whammy!

But sometimes these reports make some strange points -

Happiness is an income of $10,000, according to the WHO: people’s sense of wellbeing is undermined if they earn less but does not increase if they earn more than that. “We do not quite understand why this is,” said Stein. “Why do people in some poorer countries report higher satisfaction than in countries where incomes are higher?”

Does that mean money doesn't buy happiness? Who'd have thought it!!!!
"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

    (Marianne Williamson)
