    Out of date food

    I bought two small Pantone's the other day from Home bargains ,
    I opened one tonight to have with a cup of tea and it stank to high heaven,
    When we looked at the date it was May 2025 .
    I'm going back with them tomorrow,
    They were only £1.25 each. But that's not the point is it .
    Im not fat just 6ft too small

    No, that isn't the point Oma. Its the principal of it.

    I always check for the date when i buy anything to do with food.
    Sometimes I forget to like posts,but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

      Right to take it back Oma. I'm sure it's actually against the law to sell something so out of date !

      Speaking of out of date food. Last week GS1 told his mum he would like to try wasabi. She said she thought they had some. However he couldn't try any of that as it was dared 2011. Which as DD pointed out was before GS was born

        I'm usually very careful on checking dates but clearly didn't with these,
        Pantone has yeast in I think it had fermented, yuk.

          Oma they only moved into their house 5 years ago, so obviously brought it with them

            I always try and check dates when I have groceries delivered and one day got yoghurt that was a whole month out of date! Even the delivery driver was shocked by that.

            Oma, what a disappointment if you were looking forward to enjoying it with a cuppa.

            I sometimes find odd tins lurking at the back of the cupboard, and usually open it to check if it's edible. But I've noticed all our GCs are very careful about eat by dates. Even one day out of date and it goes in the bin.

              I am flexible with some things , like milk if it smells ok and looks ok I will still use it ,
              I use the old fashioned common sense but some things you can't take a chance.
              I tend to go through MILs fridge each week and throw stuff out , she's to old to risk food poisoning with.
              Like today I threw pate out it's tomorrows date and I knew she wouldn't use it.

                I have to be really careful as I don’t have a sense of smell. I only food shop on line every 10 days. DD helps me unload things going in the fridge so she checks the dates.
