I ate birthday cake on Sunday. I just forgot! Boy am I paying for it. No dairy used to be easy with soya but as my cancer was hormonal I can't even have that now but almond milk is acceptable to me.

GM - is coconut milk ok for you? My friend from Canada who visited recently has that and she found the UK version really delicious compared with the Canadian one.

I hope you soon feel better. xx

DD2 is allergic to prawns. At one gathering there was one of these very patronising judgmental types making comments about ridiculous allergies were and about over-protective mothers. In the end I said "Fine, we'll give her some prawns, just so long as you agree to clear up the vomit". Funnily enough she didn't take me up on the offer!

We also cut down her dairy and her health improved a lot. When she started school she kept getting coughs and a runny nose again. We then found that at the end of the day the teacher was asking who would like to drink up the spare milks and she was often having three or four!

OH has to be careful about dairy - he can tolerate a little milk but if he has cream he ends up coughing and spluttering for ages. He quite often has soya milk but recently has been using Almond milk for cereal as he says it actually tastes better than cows milk.

Hopefully as more rules and regulations come in to place it should make it easier for people with allergies to find out what they are eating especially when they want to eat out. I saw a tv item recently saying that all staff have to know a lot more about the food they are preparing or selling. Some interesting info:

                  Very interesting reading Shem.
M&S have a good fresh food section for gluten free. Fish cakes were delicious and so was the quiche. ( I love quiche so I put up with the runny eyes and nose etc.)
