    Strawberry sandwiches anyone?

I see that M&S are selling strawberry and cream cheese sandwiches in the food hall for a short time, along with other season strawberry based foods.
I love strawberries and I do like them sliced in a salad, along with grapes.

Not sure I will try the sandwich though!
    What do you think?

aardbeien-op-brood.png Gem, the Dutch always eat strawberries on bread, or rusks. When my boys were young their treat was fresh unsliced white bread from the local baker, then the strawberries. When GD1 came for lunch just the other week we had exactly the same.

These don't appeal to me at all.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Lizzie, I guess we can't say we don't like them until we try them

We were coming out of M& S on Thursday , two women were standing eating them,
They said they were amazing , a slice of Brioche with the strawberry and cream in them.
To be honest they looked yummy.
As B said the British will put anything in a sandwich 😁

Oma I suppose if we think of them as more of a dessert than a sandwich, as it's brioche not bread, we would like them

I agree with Oma's OH. If you fancy it in a sandwich it's good! The brioche option sounds ok, and I'd give them a try.

Lizzie, interesting that it's an established sandwich filling in the Netherlands.

I would not have thought of a strawberry sandwich, but now I have to try one minus the cream. I wonder if strawberries would go with peanut butter, I was going to have a banana spread with that for lunch. I think half and half.

It has been for years Daisy. I didn't know it wasn't done in the UK.

Suddenly, strawberry sandwiches seem to be everywhere. I've just read that they are very popular in Japan.

Lizzie, I remember one of my OH's colleagues who's just had a baby boy, bringing in bread and butter and blue haggeltjes ( sprinkles) to celebrate the birth. My two used to like the chocolate sprinkles on bread and butter.
I've just bought the same strawberries in your photograph from the local greengrocer! Delicious!

WG, yes, the blue sprinkles are aniseed taste.

Everyone likes the "hagelslag" on bread!

                        The strawberries would be delicious.

I know in Australia butter and sprinkles ( aka hundreds and thousands) on bread are known as Fairy Bread. Popular for children's birthday parties or for treat.

I can't imagine what sprinkles on bread and butter would taste like, but when I think of some of the things we put on sandwiches years ago, I won't pre-judge! Did you ever have sugar sandwiches? Or crisp sandwiches? I don't even like the idea of banana sandwiches these days.
