Finally used my bread maker

    Keep some in a polythene bag in the bread bin,and freeze the rest.We don't get through a lot of bread.Maybe 4/5 slices a day.

    The one thing I use the most is my big mixer,I love it and it gets used a lot.

      Gemini - I think you and I are on the same wave length with cooking - not keen, but someone's got to do it. But bread making (by machine) is an absolute must for me.       For everyday use I make 50% wholemeal (more or less) and usually add some extra bran, seeds - flaxseed, sesame, pumpkin, sunflower, it all seems to work fine. We don't eat much bread but I generally start it off while I'm getting dinner. When I take it out I put it on a cooling rack covered with a clean teacloth until it's cool. Then usually the next morning, I carefully put it into a poly bag without touching it with my fingers. Expel as much air as possible and fasten tightly. I keep it in an ordinary kitchen cupboard and it lasts for days. If I end up with some going a bit too stale I make breadcrumbs and freeze them.

        Oh gosh reading this makes me want to get the bread machine out and go for it! Trouble is, we both love bread too much, especially home made, and find it really hard to resist πŸ‘ΏπŸ˜ˆ So we both put on weight because we're so weak !

        I would like to find time to make bread from Spelt flour though, so maybe?.. We find M&S bread brilliant but cannot always get there. Waitrose is 2nd best, but if pushed the on,y bread we will buy is the brown bloomer from Jacksons. The rest are horrible and IMHO don't resemble bread in any form !

          I've just bought a gadget to help me cut even slices of my machine-made loaves. Not tried it yet but anything will be better than my usual, ending up with slices that are the right width at the top end and either tapering away to nothing or doubling their original width!

              Hubby will only let me slice open a bread bun , I am not allowed to touch Uncut loaf he said its wafer thin one end and door step at the other
              Im not fat just 6ft too small

                  I made a white loaf today, to go in the freezer. We are enjoying the 50% wholemeal I made yesterday

                  I have put granary flour on the monthly Tesco delivery, due tomorrow. I love granary bread.

                    Sounds yummy. I used to make pittas in mine, so much better than bought ones. Of course it only made the dough, the rest was up to me but they were good.

                      I've often thought of getting a bread maker. DD has one, she used it a lot at first but the novelty wore off. I have a yogurt maker in the back of the cupboard I hardly use so I wonder if I got a bread maker would it just end up sitting in the cupboard along side the yogurt maker ?

                        Lots of ladies here seem to use their bread makers regularly Mimi, so maybe it wouldn't join the yogurt maker!

                        Has anyone made brioche in theirs? I'm planning that this weekend.

                            Can't remember the name of the one I made at Christmas , the big Italian one , it was so delicious I am fraid to make it again cos I ate most of it !

                                Update on my home-made bread slicing thingy. I've used it at last and it seems to do the trick-nice even slices. It was only a cheapy one,about Β£6 I think so I'm well pleased!
