    Infuriating words and phrases

I’m pretty sure that I’m a good cook, I enjoy cooking, planning and presenting a wide variety of meals and I take an interest in nutrition and the science behind it.
And I also often search the net for ideas and information, and watch some cookery programmes.

However, I think I shall throw my spatula into the saucepan if I read or hear any of the following:

    Packed with …
    Veggies instead of vegetables
    Throw in …
    Go in with …
    Easy peasy
    Culinary superstar
Delicious. (Why write a recipe that you think is not?)
    Finishing touches
    Spoil yourself
    Creamy
    Big flavours.

It’s lazy writing and more importantly, it annoys me!

Anyone else have any that drive them to lob a ladle at the writer?

Not about cooking but I hate these adverts that say,
Run don't walk, The Range are the worst culprit's of that phrase.
Drives me crazy , I don't know why but I hate them

Another is " if I can do it so can you " NO I damn well can't
So don't be telling me that.
I also hate when some recipes have obscure ingredients and they say you will have them in your store cupboard, , or you can buy them in your nearest Asian supermarket, when that so called market is a hours drive away, and who is going to look for and buy a odd ingredient that you will maybe use once .
I read a recipe lately that was for a dessert aimed at children and it used gold leaf ,
Lovely but I don't think your average family will be rushing out for gold leaf for the children to admire .

Ha ha. Asian supermarket. We have lots, but it’s not my tradition so even if I could find the ingredient I wouldn’t feel at all confident using it. And I loathe chilli!
As for ‘See it, say it, sort it’ I do actually shout ‘Shut up’ at the platform.

I find the overused term Pan Fried annoying. What else are we going to fry it in?

I sympathise with all those hackneyed phrases. For me the worst is "go in with". If Jamie Oliver says that one more time I might just scream!

I also detest (and I know Gem is the same) to see food presented on something that isn't a plate, eg wooden or slate boards, miniature chip pans containing chips (what else!). That dislike is closely followed by restaurants that serve a hot (fresh from the microwave?) individual pie in its pie dish. Really awkward to eat with knife and fork, but too hot to tip it onto the plate.

I totally agree with resenting the obscure ingredients, too. Especially when your nearest Asian supermarket is somewhere near Mars.

One final moan. I find what sounds like a good recipe online. There is a button to print it, and it prints with no left margin. I keep printed recipes in a ring binder and you can guarantee at least one vital quantity will be neatly removed by the hole punch.

I have been known to go looking for a plate if anything comes out on a board,
We were in a very posh hotel staying overnight ,
My main meal of the evening came on a board ,
I asked for a plate but after 5 minutes it didn't appear so I went looking for one myself and took it from the breakfast area ,
The look on the waitresses face when she came to collect our finished plates .
I agree with the chip baskets , you sometimes get chips in a little metal bucket ,
I empty them onto my plate if I can ,
How can you salt them evenly in a 🪣

My DD and SIL once got served a meal on a shovel 😱 caused lots of laughter but I wouldn't have accepted it .
