    Winter meals

What are your favourite winter meals?

The other night we had a prawn and avocado salad, as I had been craving one since we had prawn cocktail starters at Christmas!
Generally though, this time of year calls for warming dishes.
    Which are your favourites?

I love shepherds pie, made with lamb, fish pie (the only ready meal we buy, Tesco Finest) sausages and mash, chicken casserole, pasta dishes of various types and of course roast dinners.
Lovely puddings like fruit crumbles, bread and butter pudding and sponge puddings too, given the chance

Soup with crusty bread, roast beef with all the trimming or good old sausage and mash.
We don't have pudding very often but apple and blackberry crumble with custard is one of my favourites

We tend to have the same kind of hot meals as we do all year round.
I did a roast dinner today.
Always keep chicken/beef casseroles, cottage pies and corned beef pies(made the same as cottage pie) in the freezer.
Love puddings with custard, except for bread and butter pudding.
Neither of us like it. I think it's the thought of being made with bread.
Rice pudding is another favourite, but we don't have puddings like we used to do.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Homemade thick soup, shepherds pie, chicken casseroles, stir fries, macaroni cheese, beef casserole, chilli con carne for main courses.

Puds - our 'default' pud is yoghurt and I don't often make a pudding, although tonight we had rice pudding with pomegranate seeds sprinkled on top. We both like things like jam sponge and custard, apple tart and custard, baked apples and custard - in fact most things with custard.

But last night we had frittata with salad - I love salad and we have it right through the year.

Tonight we are having Toad in the Hole.I also love any sort of pie, potato or pastry topped and of course oven fish and chips as we don’t have a local chippie for the “real” thing. Crumbles, sponge puds and rice pud are also favourites.

I'm not a salad person either Qwerty, but hubby loves a salad in the summer.

                          Hey! who's nicked our lettuce!

Qwerty - When I was little salad was a piece of limp lettuce, some cucumber and if you were lucky tomato and I hated it, but now there are so many crisp, peppery salad ingredients and wonderful dressings, the world's your oyster - or your salad bowl!
