    Milk

Have any of you tried almond milk, my Sil uses it as it suits his tummy better. Well I bought a carton last Friday, an unsweetened roasted almond one (love almonds). I am not sure if I will repeat it because although okay on cereal, I am not enjoying it in tea or coffee, it leaves a funny taste in the mouth. I don't need it for my digestion so I shall go back to cows milk.

I've tried it once, Plant, and although I like almonds I didn't care for it. I didn't try it in tea, but I can imagine it wouldn't be very nice.

Don't like it at all . My DD uses it and loves it but it's not for me although I do like Almond butter on toast or on digestive biscuits, it's like peanut butter

My son uses it as his wife "decided" he was intolant to cows milk, my OH thought this very strange and commented (tongue in cheek) " how strange S is intolerant to milk when he was breastfed until he was 21"
I have never tried it just don't fancy almond flavoured tea or coffee but each to their own.

I can eat almonds if they are in chocolate, but i don't like almond flavoured cakes or marzipan.
So i don't think i will be trying almond milk.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I have it on cereal everyday or make porridge with it although it is better for you calorie wise there’s not much milk in almonds !!! it is mostly water and I do believe at our age we do need all the calcium we can get for our bones , there is no clacium whatsoever in almond milk

I tend to have normal semi skimmed but OH has various ‘milks’ - soya, almond etc - usually anything on special offer. Tolerable in porridge but definitely not in tea.

Shem - when I look at the flavoured milks I think they look tempting, but I'm always a bit disappointed.

That's a point Qwerty, didn't realise it didn't contain calcium, I need calcium for my bones.

Plant I use unsweetened almond milk. I switched from soya milk when I had breast cancer, as there is slight hormonal link and better for me not to take the risk.
I dislike cow's milk and take my drinks black. I love almond milk on my cereal and porridge though.

Qwerty, there is calcium in almond milk, and vitamins. The brand I use has anyway!

I just had a look Gemini and you are right there is calcium in Almond Milk, not sure of the equivalent in cows milk.

I think there is more in cow's milk Plant.

I use unsweetened almond milk in smoothies, don’t mind it on cereal but not in tea.

Never really fancied trying it but as DD has a very serious allergy to nuts its not something I would have in case she decided on a surprise visit, which she tend to do.
When she was little the hospital did a small allergy test via blood tests. She scored a high reading for nut ( which we knew after an emergency dash to the hospital ) , cats, dogs and wheat . Milk was the only thing she wasn't allergic to !
