Daisy was asking about how hard is it to make blackberry(bramble) jelly.
Well there are lots of recipes on t’internet, mostly very easy The only part that could be a bit tricky is the extraction of the juice. After softening the fruit it needs to be strained to remove the pips. You can buy a proper jelly bag and stand but the few times it would be used,in this house anyway,it wouldn’t be worth the outlay. Instead I rig a Heath Robinson contraption be suspending an old muslin nappy (you can use a tea towel) between the legs of an upturned old dining chair. The pulpy mashed fruit is gently poured into the cloth and the juice drips into a bowl underneath. It’s usually left overnight and then you can measure how much juice you have and use according to your recipe.Just a word of warning it’s best to cover the surrounding area with plastic as it can splash as it drips through.
The jelly is made the same way as jam by boiling the juice with sugar until the setting point is reached.
