    Food shopping online

I don’t do much food shopping online , as I struggle to get to £40 on a weekly basis , I like to choose my bread and meat funny that way, my neighbours over the road a similar age just the 2 of them like us shop online every week ,what do you all buy I can’t buy enough tins and packets to make it add up, they do buy a substantial amount of booze 🍷 so that sends the bill up , what do you all buy I guess if you have pets there will be extra. I tend to shop through the week as and when I feel and fancy something and do an online shop monthly or so

We buy far too much things we could do without ,
I do buy lots of cleaning stuff , lots of Fruit & Veg and salad stuff ,
Fish twice a week and B likes his Steak
I don't shop online I like to go shopping and browse
Always have a stock of assorted tin stuff but to be honest we don't use tins a lot ,
Two things I have stopped buying to many of is Eggs and cooked meat ,
The eggs are a funny thing ,some weeks we use quite a few then go weeks using none at all , Cooked meat we always have in for a sandwich but lately we have been cooking a chicken breast for a sandwich or using Tinned Salmon , Salad, stuff like that ,
I buy Harrogate bottled water as I only drink bottled water , we live close to the treatment works and out Tap water taste yuk .

Although DD brings Storms food every time he comes as he's on raw food I buy him Mozzarella cheese as he loves it but its only cheap so I don't really buy pet food

I shop online about one a month.Always keep a good supply of tinned stuff in, although like Oma,we don't use that many tins.
I like to stock up on cleaning stuff, and liquid arial and fabric conditioner.
Don't buy fresh meat, i prefer to stock up when i go to my regular butcher.
One thing i have to curb myself with is frozen food. Both freezers are full.
Alway get a weeks supply of bread and tescakes, both white and brown, to keep in the freezer.
I've done an order for tuesday, and i keep going on and adding stuff.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Never do online food shopping Qwerty. Like you I need to see and choose. As we don’t work now, we have time. BUT...I hate loathe and detest shopping especially food shopping.

We spend a lot of money on cat food, and I get most of my mum's shopping on our weekly order. We never have any trouble reaching and far exceeding the £40 minimum for free delivery

I've only shopped online a couple of times - both quite recently. It's ok, but I'd rather choose stuff myself, or give OH strict instructions on what to get. I find it a bit frustrating that you can't be more specific - 4 onions if they're small, but 2 if they're huge, or 4 ripe bananas and 4 under-ripe, etc!

I don't usually have trouble reaching £40 on a supermarket shop, but it will include washing and cleaning materials, wine, fruit and veg - we eat mounds of them. I usually get two lots of meat and two or three of fish for a week. We use eggs fairly steadily and I like to keep at least half a dozen in. We spend a fortune on cheese! I also always keep a supply of Gluten-free and Dairy-free things in the freezer and store cupboard for the family. I buy flour etc for bread making, and we usually get a couple of naughty cakes, some chocolate and crisps. I don't buy any pet food in the supermarket - like Storm, Eva's on raw and it's delivered once a month.

We usually go to the supermarket about once every two weeks, and top up as needed in the village in between.

Grauntie - I'm with you - I hate, loathe and detest shopping too!

Qwerty - I bet if you added up what you buy during the week it would comfortably take you over the £40 threshold! If not, I'm coming to see you for shopping lessons.

I started shopping on line a few years ago, it was the only way I could manage working, looking after dad and doing my shopping and his .
I would add every thing he wanted on to my grocery shopping, and have it delivered to me . I would put all my shopping away and then take his to him .
I have never had a problem with the fresh food , it’s all been very good quality and I have never had the silly substitutes that people claim they have had where a packet of corn flakes have been substituted with a mushroom.
Also I pay upfront for my delivery £72 for the whole year , that’s a savings of well over £200 .
I have to admit that I buy fresh meat from the butcher rather than a supermarket as it is far nicer and I even have that delivered .

To be fair I live over the road to our big shopping centre , if we don't go over in the car its literally 5 minute walk over the Highway bridge straight into the retail park and centre , so unless both of us were ill and unable to go out its not worth shopping on line .

I don't buy fresh fruit online, as i don't eat it.
Hubby prefers to choose his own fruit when we are out and about.

I only do online shopping when I can't get to the shops. I would rather go and choose what I want, I eat loads of fruit and veg, fish and chicken. they never bring the right bananas. I usually buy wine etc (etc being the G&T and brandy)
about once a month. I make a list and usually stick to it, I love shopping. As GD is taking me atm, we usually have lunch too, our new Waitrose has a very nice cafe.

Very interesting what we all buy etc, I could reach well over £40 Daisy in a week but only if I bought my meat and veg at supermarket online prefer shops every other day to buy fresh stuff I can’t get above £40 in tins and packets but did go to Aldi and spend £40 today only fresh I bought was strawberries and bananas , peppers and prawns , then spent £20 on frozen bits like oven chips, ice cream , lollies, and the odd dessert 😋 but like I think GM I hate food shopping , I had to come home today and drink a lager 🍺

It's amazing how 'bits' add up, Qwerty! As you say, basics like oven chips and ice cream etc soon mount up.

I do online either Waitrose or Ocado but it’s usually about once a month. I buy my meat, fruit and veg and cheese from the local farm shop. We have milk, and bread delivered by our village shop/post office and we keep chickens so have our own eggs. We live about 8 miles from the nearest Town with a supermarket so it’s more convenient to have it delivered.

Avo - you sound very well organised. I keep promising myself I'll use the farm shop more often, but it's 8 miles away and I'm usually in a hurry to get to DS2's, or have a car full of children plus a dog! Not ideal for any sort of shopping.
