    Fingers crossed.

Nearly 2 years ago, our niece lost a baby girl.
She was born too early, due to niece having lost amniotic fluid.
The baby only lived for ½ hour.
She is now 25 weeks pregnant with a baby boy.
Due to her history, they are keeping a close eye on her, doing scans quite often.
Now, they have told her,the vein in the umbilical cord that carries the nutrients to the baby is twisted,
and he might have to be delivered at 30 weeks.
I rang her tonight, she cried, but she is trying to be positive,as we all are.

I have everything crossed for a safe delivery Nanto. She must be beside herself with worry.

Nan2, I'm sure we all wish your niece and her precious baby well.
Every day he can stay inside is another day forward and increases his chances.
The care and survival rates for early babies are so much better now though, so there is every chance this little boy will be fine, even if he has to come early

Wishing them all the best xx

Nanto - what an anxious time. I do hope the little boy can hang on in there as long as possible, but as Gem says, early babies have a really good chance these days.

Sending her, her OH and their little baby prayers and strong positive vibes. xx

Oh what a shock and worry for them to be told that. Do hope baby can stay in the womb to be safely delivered. Without the scans we have today that wouldn't have been spotted.

That is reassuring Qwerty, that 2 babies survived, at an earlier stage than the 30 weeks which Nan2's niece may have to have her baby..

My DD2's baby boy was born 7wks early & I can empathise with you Nan2. It is a worrying time for you all. GS is coming up for four & is a right 'bruiser'. Love to all.
