As you know about 3 weeks ago DS was hit from behind at a roundabout by a van ,
He had his car returned on Friday , Well yesterday morning on his way to work it died on him twice he managed to get it started and get to work but then it died again just as he was parking ,
He rang B to see if he had any idea what could be wrong , but these days its all computers so his Dad couldn't really help ,
He had no emergency cover so B went on like and AA would cost him £150 and with a small call out fee would come out that day ,
So arranged cover paid call out fee and they went to his work to have a look at the car at 2pm
The man said he thought it was some filter or other that wasn't letting the fuel get to engine , so another £40 for a new one of them ,
Got car started drove around the car park and it died again ,
By this time the AA man was baffled he had checked all the gauges all the obvious stuff and said he would have to tow son to the garage ,
as something was wrong that he couldn't figure out ,
Just as he was about to set the tow thing up he said to DS I'm just going to check something else , looked at fuel it said 3/4 full but in fact the tank was empty , DS had filled it up literally just before the bump but while it had been in for repair all the fuel had been used even though it said 3/4 full ,
DS said he felt a idiot but the AA man said well how were you to know with a faulty gauge even he didn't think of that , it was just a last minute hunch he had ,
He put £10 worth in and it turned over like a dream , DS took it to the garage near work put £15 worth in and fuel Gauge shot up to full ,clearly wrong .
So a very expensive day for a empty tank ,over £200 in total ,
AA man advised him to contact the garage as they clearly after 3 weeks in there hadn't checked everything
He also told him to contact his insurance as he should be able to claim back for the filter and call out charge as the garage had overlooked the fault , gave him a print out that in his opinion the sensor on the tank had been damaged by the bump ,
so much for 3 weeks work by so called Mechanics .
