Who does what in your home?

Reading Avo's post about their clocks and how OH and GS1 wind them up made me wonder who does what routine jobs in your home? I always remember when we were children it was nearly always the Dad who cleaned shoes, emptied the ashes out, did the garden and cleaned the windows. I'm sure our Mums did everything else!

In our house I set all the clocks, timers etc except the boiler and a wind up clock in the dining room, I cook, make the bread, keep track of our social life, remember (usually) birthdays etc. OH sorts out anything related to finance and insurance. I'm sure I'll think of others, but most other jobs either of us do.

I am social secretary in our house!
Apart from OHs golf connected stuff, I organise all social events, including holidays, and keep track of birthdays and anniversaries. I do about 80% of the cooking, and do the shopping, or place the Tesco order.
OH pays the bills, apart from my credit card bill, which I pay by direct debit.
OH does 90% of the gardening, and all DIY jobs, and tends to tackle more deep cleaning jobs than I do.
We share general housework, washing and ironing fairly equally.

Think we share the housework equally, depends if I'm at work or not. Hubs does the majority of the cooking, but its me who decides what we will eat. Holidays are planned between is and of course organising birthdays is left to me. We share gardening, him the veg man me the flower person. Hubs organises all the finances I have never been interested in that side, and B does all the shopping. I seem to have slipped into being the ironing person by some flook, I suppose when I retire things may shift around a little.

Hubby does all the finances like Libra never been interested as long as bills are paid on time and I have money in my purse I'm happy , he also does all the cooking . I do house work , windows , decorating , hoover the garden , ironing and most of the washing , but he will load the washer and start it off when he gets up in the morning if I leave the laundry basket on the landing the night before , I do as much DIY as I'm capable off I find using a screwdriver can be a challenge now with weak fingers but I manage , he normally does all that but to tired at the moment .The car and shed are his domain I don't wash or clean them , we do shopping together and I do all the Birthday, Anniversary , appointments etc otherwise no one would get a card and most appointments would be forgotten,

I deal with the financial issues, I doing all the cooking and washing. We share the rest of the housework.OH is in charge of the cutting of the hedge and two lawns , I do the boarders and raise flowers from seeds . He paints anything that needs doing outdoors and I do indoors.
The wheelie bins are put on by whoever is up first on that particular day.
OH is most definitely in charge of the TV remote control. !

Hubby is in charge of finances, which suits me. I do all the cooking, cleaning and washing and ironing. Hubby has always been keen on DIY,in fact he's doing some now, but it's an outside job.
I cut the grass and hubby does the rest of the gardening jobs, neither of us decorate, we get someone in now.
We shop together at weekends, but if I'm doing an online grocery shop, it's all down to me.
Holidays, we decide together. I always put the bins out, but hubby brings them in.
Birthdays are my domain and so are any appointments.
Like Mr Mimi, hubby is in charge of the TV remote.
The way we do things has always suited us, can't see any need for change.

We share most jobs. OH cuts the grass and I do the watering and seed sowing. OH does the finance etc, mostly puts the bins out. I deal with washing and OH claims not to understand our current washing machine! OH has been doing most of the ironing but has a painful elbow so I've been doing some (was going to say for him!). My friend does absolutely everything for her OH. He doesn't even make a cup of tea. Wouldn't suit me but they both seem happy enough.

Something else I remembered, if hubby gets a letter in the post,he will take it out of the envelope, pass it to me and say here you read it.
Any form filling to be done, either on paper or online that's my job as well.

Oma my Brian is the same, takes him 1 to 2 hours to iron a basket of laundry, I can whip it out in 30 to 40 minutes. He says how do you get it done so quick, errrr experience !!!! Brian always puts the bins out as I wouldn't remember, I do any decorating but in future we will get someone in, as the up and down ladders is to much now.

I do all finances and banking on line, he would not have a clue. I also do the Sainsbury delivery, the occasional supermarket shop, clean the bathroom, clean the kitchen, drive us everywhere (cannot complain as he cannot drive because of eye problem), I also dust (I hate to admit that), do the freezer list (yes I know that is a bit "anal" as someone recently said). He generally puts the rubbish and recycling out, I usually put the bins back for us and our neighbour and rinse them. DIY? We both do that. I do not paint and decorate and now I do not expect my husband to either. I detest vacuuming and he does that. Hot flat thing? Well we do have a fairy for that it probably, in all, costs us about £50 a month, worth every penny. Beds do not need changing nor do towels or kitchen fabrics unless I do them and then there is surprise from himself even though I change the beds twice a week "oh I didn't think they were dirty", bathroom towels also twice a week and kitchen fabrics daily SMACK. Razor blades, deodorant etc are mentioned when I say I am shopping but I check as, frequently, he still has them but forgets where they are.

My hubby looks after all the household finances and I look after my fiances (secret stash) you never know when you may need a new handbag !! seriously though OH has always done our finances and I have organised the food side of things and the ordering of deliveries from supermarkets etc,we decide jointly about holidays but I do all the booking & insurances but he does the insurance for the cars.
With being back at work full time I don't do any ironing the big stuff goes to a lovely lady and she deliverers back a couple of days later we do run the steamer over light stuff if needed but not often,we generally jog along quite nicely and share whats to be done housework wise being a small apartment it is so easy to manage,

Blimey change the bed twice a week, gets done once a week in my house that includes bottom sheet duvet cover and pillowcases. Change the bathroom towels every other day and kitchen every day. Anyone else change their bedding twice a week ? Or else I shall feel like a slattern. Never buy anything hubby is a great bargain hunter this week alone he has replenished my Impulse sprays with 6 new ones, special deal superdrug. He gets my hairspray as well as there is only 1 I like and he can hunt it down cheaper than me.

I change the bed twice a week as I am very hot and sticky during the night even in the winter and we never have the heating on in the bedroom. I can be comfortable one minute and the next minute like I am in a sauna. It only happens at night never during the day and my menopause has long gone. I have tried everything to improve it including silk bedding but still get the same thing.

I also keep keep the diary, he obviously has his shift list which gets changed frequently but everything goes into my paper diary and my work electronic diary. I buy all the birthday cards and presents but when it comes to the boys we buy together or we will discuss and one of us will go out and get whatever the decision is. I usually book the holidays and arrange all the insurances. We don't have to have car insurance as it is a company car which is something that I have to remember when calculating household finances when we finally retire.
