Reading about Daisy going for DS,s birthday lunch today , and I have just been talking to my sister she was saying she was doing a roast but she knows it will all get wasted as she makes too much and her family don't always want one now when they go , so I was wondering who still sticks to tradition and makes a roast every week or like us we only do a roast dinner when we feel like it or maybe mid week , usually we go out with the family for occasional Sunday lunch . I still like the idea of a traditional family Sunday lunch but now everyone has such busy lives it's not as easy as it was is it , so when we do all go out for lunch I love us all being around the table .

We usually have a roast for Sunday lunch but occasionally will have something else. Today will be our last Sunday lunch at home for a couple of weeks so it is lamb roast with all the trimmings. Alternatives for Sunday are home made lasagne or moussaka and salad or chops of some sort but always a cooked meal unless very warm when we will have a salad. If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

I love a Sunday roast! Growing up we had one every week. I think we did most weeks when my children were growing up too. Now it is a rare occurrence, if OH and I ever have one for just the two of us it will be with pork chops rather than a joint. More often we just eat any meal we would eat any other day of the week.
Every few weeks I invite my mum and as many of the family who are free to come, and we do a roast, either pork or lamb. Because it is rare there is a sense of occasion when we do this!
I love going out for Sunday lunch too, and we do this with friends or alone a few times a year.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

This is the first Sunday lunch I have done in months. I thought it would make a change as we tend to eat lots of things that are suitable for OHs diet but once in a while won't do him any harm. If it were up to him he would eat pies/ chips/ puddings a few times a week !Bring me sunshine in your smile.

I am cooking a roast dinner today for the first time in ages. Haven't even started it yet, we are having roast pork joint with all that goes with it. Have had orders from GC what veggies etc they want and MUST have yorkie puds and stuffing. Looking at the time I think I had better get off my laptop and head for the kitchen. Won't take me long once I get started

Gem because here are only two of us we usually have left overs so I either vacuum seal them and freeze them as they are or mince them up for pies and meatballs. Nothing gets wasted. Next Sunday we will be on the way back from Chessington with th children. I was going to make lasagnes and stuff but husband says we can do microwave food or cook on the BBQ. Not looking forward to it.If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

I love Sunday lunch enjoy making it too especially Yorkshire pud but just seems an effort for only two , we are having dinner at t time steak, jkt spuds and salad and fruit flan for after will enjoy it all the same. We do tend to have a roast when family come but usually bank holidays as the kids like to do their own thing at w/e.

I love a roast dinner, hubby can take it or leave it.We had to go visit family who were over from Blackburn this afternoon, so we had salad and scampi.
Less tidying up to do before we went out. I'm not really a salad fan.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

We occasionally have a roast dinner usually 6pm, but invariably we will plump for something easier being just the two of us. I love having people round for Sunday lunch, but the GD's all have different activities so it rarely works out. I worked today and it was nice to have a meal put before me, it was salmon roulade yuk so I stuck to a glass of water. Roast beef and all the trimmings and dessert was trifle, I had fruit cocktail."What doesn't kill us,makes us stronger."

We very rarely cook a roast now, we tend to go out for one, and I have a fish dish instead. OH still loves the odd roast but I cannot be fussed with everything else there is to do unless we are welcoming guests to our house, then I will pull out the stops.Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. We usually have Sunday roast most weeks. Usually our children and grandchildren come, but sometimes we are on our own but I still like a traditional
roast. Today was our church fete so we didn't get our meal until 6pm and I just roasted a couple of pork chops for the 2 of us.Grandmothers are just antique little girls - author unknown

There is just something inside me which insists on a Sunday Roast we have always had one, first v job Sunday morning is to put the meat in be it Chicken/Lamb even though there are just two of us,I buy just enough loose veg for us both so we have no waste and any meat left is frozen for during the week or Poppy will have a nice little treat.Keep Calm,You're Fabulous

Seem mainly to have a home cooked roast dinner when the family has gathered though do occasionally have one for just us. We were returning from Epsom yesterday and stopped at a pub near us that does a brilliant Sunday roast. You can choose rare sirloin or medium rare so that way we are both happy. They also have other roasts sourced locally. Veg is cooked just right (for us anyway) and the gravy was excellent. Quite pricey for our area at £11.95 but worth spending to get perfection. We also both had starters and puds which is very unusual but was so good. OH is often working at weekends so we have chops or something easy.xx
