    Had to smile

After a bit of a crappy day I received a text from my Brother a few minutes ago to tell me my Great Nephew (his 17 year old Grandson) had just told them hes Gay , But what made me laugh was my Brother said ," We thought he was going to tell us something serious like he didn't want to do Boxing anymore " He was more concerned that he still wanted to Box than being told he was Gay. I thought that was lovely and funny

Brilliant.. this really made me smile

I do know that even in this day and age, not all families welcome such news Oma, and many young people hide this from the parents. It's lovely to hear of someone with a caring, accepting family.

Gem we are a accepting family as a whole but I do think he was very brave as his Dad and his side of the family are Irish Catholic so not a easy thing to do . But his Dad said as long as he's happy it's ok by him 😊 he still loves him no matter what . My brother adores him too and takes him everywhere with him so I think he may have had an idea really

I bet your great nephew is relieved that's out of the way, and happy his news was well accepted.
I have a friend who is in her 80s. She was devastated when her grandson came out as gay. Happily all is well now she has met his partner whom she likes very much.

Oma - please can I pre-order your book, and would you sign if for me, please? If it was prescribed on the NHS is would probably save them billions of pounds on happy pills.

Well done for your great nephew Oma, its not an easy thing for him to have come out and I'm speaking as a Mum who knows the torment they can go through. Even in today's liberated world sadly being "different" can still be frowned on. I remember clearly the time we learnt Matty was gay and the loving and mainly positive reactions from family and friends. But Brian and I have always said if anyone didn't approve or made derogratory comnents then we would just cut them off as the problem is with them not our son. Luckily we havent had to do this, I remember talking to eldest son about it and his response was Oh Mother I thought you were going to say it was something serious like drugs, is that all he's gay lol.

Loving someone is loving them for who they are & not what we want them to be eh? I'm so glad we all know how to love.x

It's good that he has been able to tell his Dad, and not have to try and hide it.
