    Family resemblances

I've always been fascinated by family resemblances - things like how a child can look like a distant aunt and things like that.

I made a comment elsewhere that my OH and DS2 sound alike and it's hard to tell them apart on the phone. Oma mentioned that her DD sounds like her. Recently my DS1 sent some photos taken when our GSs were small and on one of them GS1 has an expression exactly like my DS1 had at that age, even though they are not physically alike.

Eye colour is another thing that is interesting! I've also noticed with several nieces that as they've got older (in their 50s) they look more and more like their parents did at that age.

Oldest DS looks nothing like me at all in fact anyone would have hard to match us as mother and son. Now younger DS looks like his dad but his ways, likes and dislikes are the same as me , in fact we both fidget like mad, both have arthritis and high blood pressure. Our youngest DD looks like me and she is also a fidget but her hair colour and the way she walks and even the way she carries her handbag is like my mum !

DS and GS sound alike on the phone

My one SIL is the image of her mum

My DS is the image of Me, but at the same time is like Bs brother.
they have the same smile pull the same faces and have very similar traits in the way they move sit etc .
Even have the same gum line when they smile.

DD looks like me when I was young ,
I never noticed but others did till I put a photo of me at 25 and her at 25 and apart from the black hair from her Dads side we look identical, wish I looked as pretty as she does now 😁.

When GS 1 was born I will never forget walking into the room he was less than a hour old and it was like looking at my SIL in miniature,
He is a good mix of both my DD & SIL now but from the back he and SIL both have the same body shape and stance .

GS2 is my double too although a red head ,
GD is looking more like her mother every time we see her .

B is just a clone of his father , I know what he’s going to look like in his 80s 😁

DS1 looks like hubby's side of the family.
DS2 looks like my side of the family.
If you saw them together you wouldn't think they were brothers.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

It's hard to tell my DDs apart on the phone especially 1 and 3.

I look like my dad, and DD2 as small child looked just like I did at that age! DD1 is much more like her dad. People outside the family seem to find all 3 very similar though!

DD2 and I worry about the same things and so understand each other very well.
DD3 and I are too similar and we bicker like sisters! We have never fallen out, it's a bicker and over with but this has never happened with her older sisters!

Eldest DD stopped colouring her hair and people remark how alike we are , I feel mortified for her , she is very pretty, a friend of my Mum told me I looked very like my mum, but added .. but she is very good looking .. I didn’t know how to take that !
one son is so like his Dad that a visitor from America addressed him by his Dads name !

Oh Aggie I can imagine your face when she said that 😁,
It was a compliment even if it was a back handed compliment 😁

A lady at my mum's care home, seeing DD1 and I going up the stairs asked 'Are you twins?' Flattering for me but not DD, 21 years younger!

This was in the days of masks, plus she wasn't that close to us, and was probably short sighted

Aggie, this has to be a compliment to you. If your mum was described as very good looking, and your eldest DD is described as good-looking as well, and you resemble both of them, there can only be one conclusion - you share their good looks. xx

Gem, you can see the family resemblance between you and all your DDs, but especially DD1 as far as I've seen from photos. So I'm not surprised about that comment!

Oh Aggie, how lovely to hear from you. Definitely a compliment

Gemini, I think the DD who has two children is like you. Is that your middle DD
