Both DH and I are only children, I had one aunt and uncle and one cousin, he had one aunt and uncle and two cousins. Now all that is left are us two, and one of his cousins who had no children of her own. With our own two children and three GC we are an extremely small family . Wish there were more of us.

We had a cast of flipping thousands! My Dads mum had sixteen children, I don't think I know all of my cousins, a lot are in Australia, £10 Poms. Sadly no brothers or sisters left now. Still in touch with the cousins who were in roughly the same age bracket as me. My parents had five, I have one natural niece and one nephew from my sisters. One nephew from my brother who none of us have ever seen, he is probably about 18 or 19 now. Brother now has three step daughters and three grandchildren.

My maternal grandmothers family was massive, I still don't know how many! She had three children, only one of whom remains and he is very old now. I have two cousins plus five from my grandmothers illegitimate child she had in the 30s and was adopted by a family member.

As we live so far away from everyone else we do not get together often but my two sisters and one brother are coming to my birthday lunch in August.

Husband's family was odd. His mother had three children, stopped and then when her youngest was 21 she started having more! One of the older siblings died as a child. The other two are still alive although one is not expected to be with us much longer. Both of his younger siblings have died. Our boys, elder and younger speak to their cousins from time to time but they are mostly in Staffordshire so again there is not a lot of getting together.

OH has two sisters and one brother, My family is a little odd I had a half sister who is no longer with us but that is a long painful story , she turned to drink and because of how she treated the family ended up on her own, I have a half brother who I don't even want to talk about and I did have one beautiful older sister who died at the age of 16 and when I was sorting out my late mothers effects I came across a death certificate of a baby brother who I knew nothing about. He was only one day old when he died. I was 2 at the time and have no memory of it.
I do have my late half sisters family , her two daughters ,granddaughters and great granddaughters who I am in contact with and her x husband and his wife !
I did say my family was odd !!!
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Hubby has 3 brothers(was 4, but one died last year) and 3 sisters. I know I had/have 2 half sisters. I was told many years ago, that after my parents split up, my mother had 3 boys, but don't know if that's true or not. I had a few Aunties,Uncles and cousins, but lost touch with them all. no idea how many children/grandchildren they have.

All of hubby's siblings have children, all but one has grandchildren.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

When I lived for a short while in Bath in my twenties (oh about 12 years ago) where my paternal family were originally from I was on a bus one day and saw this old boy, I couldn't take my eyes off him as he looked liked my paternal grandfather. Now bear in mind we were an army family so only ever came "home" for a couple of weeks at a time and my grandfather died when I was only about four or five so I didn't really know him. He was blind and I just remember this really BIG man sitting in a chair next to a coal fire with grey stubble and the most enormous checked slippers I think I had ever seen. I remember him having a very deep voice.

I went to my parents house and said to my dad that I saw someone who looked just like my memory of his dad and he just look at me as if I was bonkers. A few days later the old boy walked past the garden gate when I was talking to my dad in the kitchen. In pointed him out to my dad who laughed and said he was amazed, yes he does look like granddad, because he was my dad's cousin, the son of granddad's twin! I never knew granddad was a twin but granny had two sets of twins.

Something like that happened to us Tizzy , Brian didn't know a lot of my uncles (my Mams brothers) but one we looked after when he was dying Brian was very close too , about 3 weeks after he died I was in the kitchen and Brian came in rather white and said I have just seen Uncle John working on the path outside , I knew instantly who it was so I went to have a look and sure enough it was his brother my uncle who worked for the council repairs dept . he was the double of my uncle who died so I could see how it had shocked Brian

My cousin only has me and my three brothers and they forget all about her unless I mention something such as sending her a Christmas or birthday card/present. She was an only child and my aunt died when she was about five. My Gran had sisters but they didn't have children. There may be family from my Grandad but there must have been some massive falling out as my Dad was banned from mentioning/visiting them My Mum was one of ten so I have lots of cousins and most of them have children. OH only has five cousins but two brothers and two nieces.
                    xx

Mum was one of 5, dad one of 8. I have only one sister. Through no fault of anyones ( she was born really early ) She is blind and profoundly mentally handicapped. To all intents and purposes I am like an only child.
I have 3 children, so hoped the family would get bigger again, lots of GC. I have 2, and who knows if there will ever be more?!

My family now is my mum, 3 DD, 2 GC and an aunt and uncle on my dads side. There are cousins on both sides, but I am not in touch with them.

As my ex husband is remarried and has his wife a lovely son, we are a nice big group at family gatherings though
