    A hectic two weeks

I've been dropping in and out of GRU for a couple of weeks, and I still haven't caught up with everything that's happening with other members, but this is what has been happening in the Daisy family.

Two weeks ago it was DS1's birthday. They are having their garden done. Doing anything at theirs was out of the question, so OH and I offered to do a family barbecue here - on the Sunday as GS1 was taking his driving theory test on the Saturday. (He passed.)

The weather forecast was dreadful - and it wasn't wrong! The rain came down in buckets. We had a huge gazebo and tables and chairs under it, so we were able to eat in the dry. Poor OH on the barbecue needed a minder with a large umbrella! It was a good day, DS had a great time, and was so pleased to see the surprise guests - a friend from uni days and his family.

I'm sure some people get their house and kitchen all tidied up and sorted out before they go to bed - I just left everything till the next day!

On the Wednesday some friends came round for coffee - we hadn't seen them properly since the first lockdown.

On the Friday my car eventually passed its MOT - after two new tyres. Later that day OH's youngest brother and his wife arrived from North Wales. More people we hadn't seen for such a long time.

On the Sunday we had invited some friends round for A's birthday - another barbecue. I was beginning to feel all burgered-out! But it was a lovely afternoon, very relaxed, and I even made and decorated a cake for her.

OH had the dentists Monday morning - just a check up luckily. Then his brother helped him with a couple of electrical jobs we needed doing - a new socket and plug for the pump in the water feature, and 'something in the garage' - no idea what!

More socialising on Wednesday - this time lunch with OH and BIL's niece and her hubby, and back home for the football semi-finals. My SIL and I went round to a friends and left the men to it!

Thursday morning was an early start for me, as I took Eva over to DS2's for the day and came back for a quick breakfast. Then we headed north to DS1's and DIL's for coffee and a tour round their very impressive mud baths around the back garden! The weather hasn't been kind to this project.

We had a coffee and a chat. GS1 was very keen to talk to OH about the football. DIL had booked an outdoor table at a nearby pub for lunch, and we had a very relaxed meal and chat. There was a lot of catching up to be done!

We collected Eva on the way home and stayed and had a chat with DS2 and family, and of course, a love-in from Cooper who should have been more tired after having Eva for the day!!

I had another early start yesterday. I'd done a Covid test as part of research project. I couldn't do the test until the day I'd booked the courier for, and they could have arrived anytime between 8am and 6 pm so I thought I'd better get it done in good time. We had a leisurely breakfast and our visitors left about 11am.

This morning we were at the hospital just before 9 am for OH's eye treatment, and back home before 11.

It has felt like a social whirlwind this last couple of weeks. After about 16 months of seeing no-one and going nowhere it's been quite a shock to the system. But it's been grand to see so much of various branches of the family as well as some friends, which is something I think most of us missed during lockdowns.

I just need a holiday now!

I have just had the most awful pain in my leg, made me feel sick!! I have taken painkillers so they are helping, why it comes I do not know. I have been out on the bike, got enough exercise in. I got a Too Good To Go box from the supermarket GD1 is starting work at, it was very good value, best steak, salmon, salads etc etc, oh, and carrot cake!!!! My next door neighbour has just been with fruit and veg so we keep ourselves well stocked!!!

Daisy, that was a lot going on at any time let alone after long periods of none socialising!
Lovely, but as you say exhausting too. I'm sure you need a quiet few days now!

Sorry about the leg pain Lizzie ☹️

Tomorrow was to have been DIL1's mother's 80th birthday party, which we were invited to, but we'd come to the conclusion OH wouldn't be fit for it.

Then I got a message from DIL to say that she'd had to take her dad (who was hosting the party) to A&E with a suspected kidney stone, so the party's postponed for now. I hope the poor chap's ok - kidney stones are awful.

Daisy I always remember mum telling me that her mum, when she had kidney stones said she would rather give birth to all her six babies again than endure that pain!
I hope the poor man is better soon.

Gem - I can believe that. OH has had them twice - the last time about 6 years ago, and I still follow him round with glasses of water because he was in agony with them. I hope DIL's dad is ok - I haven't heard anything yet, but they kept him in hospital overnight.
