    Do They Ever Grow Up?

When I was pregnant with DS1 my Mum bought me a really lovely shawl made from the finest thread and in the shape of a giant spider web. I used it to bring DS1 home from the hospital and it was put in the cupboard and never used again. I suppose it was not the most practical thing but very beautiful. Since DiL is now over halfway through her pregnancy I thought I would parcel it up and send it to NZ for them to have. I emailed DS1 and said I have sent a parcel so look out for it and let me know when it arrives. His answer back: - Oooh good. Is it Marmite?

But I am certain the shawl is lovely and will be very much appreciated.

Marmite, love it, wish I could eat it but it doesn't agree with me. Have Bovril instead, reminds me of my childhood. Lovely thought about the shawl

BL - Ican understand your DS1's comment! Being deprived of Marmite is serious!!! I'm sure it would be my first thought, too.

Both he and I are Marmite addicts. NZ Marmite tastes vile he says. He cannot eat it. So this is for my next parcel...

Have you noticed these days when babies come our of hospital they cant take the babies out by carrying them, in my day lol the nurse used to carry them out for you till you got in the car, now they have to be put in a car seat before leaving the premises I gave my DD the shawl we had to carry her home in but it didn't work in the child seat, I am sure she will love it BL it will look lovely in the pram. Do you remember the pram quilts that were about with matching pillowcase the quilt was to match the sex of baby or to the pram colour

Yes I remember the pram quilts and pillowcase. Mine was very pale, creamy yellow.

I kept my cot quilt and bumper which matched as they very pretty. I got them out of the cupboard the other day and realised that I had read that cot bumpers are no longer recommended (considered unsafe) so there was nothing I could do but get rid of it but I have still got the quilt which is more like an eiderdown and is used when my GS stays over and sits up late with us watching a film. He gets into his jim-jams and has the quilt that went on his (now 40 year old) Uncle's cot over his legs. It still looks as good as new.
