    Hello everyone.

I am a mum, wife and grandmother. I have two grown up boys and two amazing daughter-in-laws. I have three grandchildren. My eldest granddaughter is estranged from us and we have had no contact with her since 2007. As a result I set up Bristol Grandparents Support Group, we give support to grandparents going through this 'living bereavement.' I am also gran to twin grandsons, which is such a privilege.

I'm not a stranger to this beautiful gift from the"god of websites" I accidentally but wonderfully stumbled upon a forum of sorts a few years ago. It was when I had just become a grandmother for the first time and the forum became my outlet for all this grandparentish, sadly it didn't last and I find myself on this brand new website with lots of my old friends with me, conversations I made with strangers I now feel I have known all my life, now I have private messages, e mails, swapping of mobile numbers although I do realise some people want to remain anonymous, but I have made friends for life because of this process, they know my painful secrets, my joyous moments and my embarrassing stories and how vulnerable I can be, I am myself when I talk to them no holds barred.
The circumstances maybe virtual but the bond is real you can celebrate accomplishments, be an ear for someone, air your frustrations and share raw emotions no questions asked.
I have built an online friendship with these people a community has been created where we are alike we all have grandchildren but yet we are all different individuals at the same time, so look forward to much merriment, playful banter here and there, our real lives do get in the way at times Its happening to me at the moment but I know the forum will be there for me when push comes to shove .
So good luck to this shiny new site long may we all linger over reading the posts and much gratefulness to our founders for setting this much needed site and forum xx

Qwerty I can only echo what Elisi has said. We are inspired to make GransRus the best it can be in every way.

Jane, I haven't properly said 'hello and welcome' from me. It's our hope that GransRus will provide a special place for grannies, whatever their situations.

Omar - if I start of the bubbly, I'll never get my list of jobs done! But hey, we can't let good bubbles go to waste. Cheers.
