    Pilates

Do any of you do Pilates?
    I know Clover certainly did!

I am trying to find the best way to improve my back pain, which seems to be caused by muscles tightening up (because I walk badly?) I have monthly sports massage which helps a lot but unless I can have it at least once week isn't enough on its own.

I get a good workout at aquafit classes twice weekly, but I don't think this works the back or core muscles enough to help me with the pain.

My massage therapist suggested Pilates. I don't want to go to a class but there is a lot on online information and videos.
Because of my knee floor exercises are not really suitable. There are standing Pilates videos and these seem to ones for me. I think I will have a go this weekend

Gem, they are very popular classes at the gym, not for me, like you I would be stuck on the floor! I did once try a DVD, Pilates for Dummies, this was before I started at the gym so years ago, I was shattered!!!!

Unfortunately once Covid struck there haven’t been any local Pilates classes so I haven’t been able to go. I used to enjoy it and though I’ve got DVDs there’s not the motivation of a class. However there are some excellent U tube sessions if you search for Pilates for older people that are quite gentle, both standing and mat work.

I have never tried Pilates but I did yoga for several years and it helped enormously with my back and general well being but with the combination of Covid and moving I haven’t been to a class for three years now but it do try and do a few yoga poses now that again.
I actually practice standing on one leg whilst brushing my teeth, left leg for top row, right leg for bottom row
