For a few days I have had very itchy skin around my waist and on my thighs, in fact so bad that I couldn't get off to sleep last evening. Called into the local chemist yesterday and they sold me some antihistamine cream and tablets (not the drowsy ones. No relief so I went back to E45 and managed to get off to sleep. they are itching now and trying to refrain from scratching, it doesn't relieve it and because of my Warfarin it causes bruising. I have changed my shower gell to a sensitive one and today I am going to buy a different washing tablets, I have been using the same one for ages now. Any advice????

I too sometimes get itchy skin usually round my middle. If I run my hand over the skin I can feel little tiny pinprick bumps, that are virtually invisible.I take an anti histamine occasionally but it usually just goes on itโs own.Not a lot of help Plant Iโm afraid ,but the other ladies have said everything I can think of.Hope it stops soon.

I have the non drowsy ones Gemini. I must say the legs not so itchy atm, waistline still feeling itchy. I think you are probably right Qwerty, I do tend to sit on a poof next to the radiator a bit, not because the room is cold. I have e45 but I will get some Sudocrem. I have had a shingles vaccine and no sign of blisters as the waistline. I am keeping away from the radiator. I do suffer from eczema on my lower leg and have cream for that. Will see how it goes tonight. I have changed my make of gin, so I have blamed that, well you never know what they put into these botanical gins, it is empty now so back to my usual make tonight. Watch this space. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Not the gin, Plant. Never!!!
I get itchy skin problems as well, and it's always at its worst in this dry, very cold weather. I've found turning down the shower a couple of Celsius helps. I have a moisturising cream designed for cold weather problems and I use E45 Itch Relief cream. That kind of E45 seems to work quite well. I haven't tried taking antihistamines, but if it's very itchy when I'm going to bed I take a couple of Paracetamols so I can get to sleep.
When I think about it I use a gentle exfoliant cream in the shower and that helps a bit, too.
Do you always use body lotion/moisturiser after a shower/bath - that helps too.
