    Illness

On 3 February I caught the flu. I’d just been on a six and a half mile Walk London Walk when I felt my throat get sore and then it was as if I’d been hit by a lorry. I’ve never felt so poorly in my life. And then I got a chest infection which turned into pneumonia. It’s not the easiest thing to get a Dr’s appointment in London but when I finally did after phoning 111 I got antibiotics and steroids. I still feel very poorly indeed but I think I may have turned the corner. Somehow I think it’s going to be a long road before I feel myself again. I’ve lost half a stone and am very weak and wobbly, but worst of all I can’t see my new grandson as I’m probably still infectious.

Oh Sum1, how awful. You were lucky to avoid being marched off to hospital by the sound of it.

My OH has been ill, but not as bad as you. It started early in January and he's starting to feel a little better, but still not great. All you can do is follow doctor's orders, and look after yourself. I know that's not easy when you're used to being the carer, but you really must take things easy.

I hope you're getting lots of photos, videos and updates on your newest grandson, even though it's not the same as a face-to-face cuddle with him.

Sending you hugs and best wishes, and some cherry flowers to say that summer is on its way. x

How horrible Sum1. I can tell you from personal experience that it WILL go. I didn’t have pneumonia but I had the jab last year. All I can say is go with how you feel, sleep lots, etc. but then I think I may be teaching grandma to suck eggs. 😁 I hope you feel better soon.

Feeling dreadful. Coughing up nasties, can’t breathe very well, nauseous and very weak. Have lost half a stone. Still swallowing the meds so hoping they begin to take effect soon. Thanks for your concern everyone x
