Any tips on hair loss please.

This has happened twice & both times it has been after hernia/abdominal surgery. Over the last few weeks I have noticed more hair loss than the day before. I wonder if the operations are a shock to the system or something or if it's coincidental? I've got some Plantur 39 to try. After my 1st experience of hair loss it just stopped & grew as normal. I hope it does the same 2nd time round.

Thanks Oma. I wondered if it might be stress related too. I hope you get as much comfort from us as you give to us. You're a lovely woman.x

I think it can be stress related Nana.
Although my hairdresser once told me, hair gets finer as you age.

Maybe it's a culmination of things Nan2. Someone said menopause affects hair loss too....hormones etc.

Nana as you know I have very long hair and a couple of years ago I noticed it was showing signs of more loss than usual it did turn out to be stress related and to the medication I was taking at the time (strong painkillers when I first broke my shoulder/arm) it has since righted itself and I am back to the normal mad mop of hair,a good tip is to keep your hair in good condition and try and have as good a cut as you can and it will soon improve.

I think it’s an age thing Nana when we get older and we’ve gone through the menopause and all those hormones are messing about it affects other things, our hair follicles are not as strong as they used to be and our skin becomes much drier including our scalp and we lose the natural oils we had to feed the follicles and they die off, I have read about this shampoo would be interested to see how it works let us know Nana

I think both opinions are right - both age as hormones change and stress can cause hair loss. I've certainly noticed my skin getting thinner and even drier that is was as I've got older. It also heals more slowly, so may be it's similar with hair - it doesn't regrow as quickly.

I'm sure you eat a balanced diet, Nana, and I think that helps.

I agree with everyone else, Nana. Stress, hormones, ageing, the medications we take, can all play a part, plus heredity.
My poor mum,has incredibly fine see through hair which has receded. I am fortunate in inheriting my dads thick hair.

As it eventually grew back normally, I would focus on that, and hopefully it will be back to normal soon!

Just a quick update. My dr has prescribed iron tablets as my level was low on my last blood test. I won't know if it's the shampoo or meds now if it improves.

One thing for sure is that our quiet zone on here has helped me unwind today. Relaxed in the pool, hair done, reflexology & indian head massage ...feeling like a new woman.

My hair is also falling out at an alarming rate. I just keep it up and then I only have to see the falling out bits in the morning and the evening. After the cancer treatment years ago I never want to have short hair again.

Zizi. With everything you're handling I'm surprised you're not pulling your hair out... I would be. I'd love long hair but get too hot, would you believe😉 Your hair always looks pretty in your fotos.
