That word G*m would have me me running for the hills. I am slower but that's ok. I'd rather dig the garden.

Talking about digging the garden, GM, I dug a hole (admittedly through solid clay) yesterday, for one small shrub, and I was shattered! The ground is just too low down these days."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

You're right, GM. It was so beautiful that I dug another one today - this time in the front garden. Both holes have now been adorned with plants - one Cornus and one Geum - and back filled, watered, and admired.Having done the bending down exercises, I then did the stretching up ones by loping off some rogue branches from the buddleja bushes. That was followed by the weights - tone of foliage lifted and carried round to the back to go in the trailer. Then I did the 'warm down' (I think that's the expression, with a sweeping brush, followed by some crunches (I thought that was a honeycomb chocolate bar, not an exercise) with the aid of a dustpan and brush to dispose of the sweepings. Who needs a gym - apart from the sauna to ease my aching limbs.

That's a great way of looking at gardening, Daisy. There are "Green Gyms" where volunteers do conservation work in parks etc, so you're doing the same thing in your own garden. 🙂. I don't think my little bit of pottering would count as exercise though, but I suppose every little helps."Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss

I was tied last night after all that exercise, plus cooking for today.
Enfys - I would love to have enough energy to do that. And, yes, every little does help. Apparently one of the factors in ageing is sitting around too much, so even pottering is good.
Qwerty - there you are, toss a coin - gym or gardening - and the join the gym.You don't HAVE to go - jut saying I've joined the gym scares the weight away.

I didn't get as far as the cold shower. I did lots of crunchies, extending arms and reaching out over the greenhouse beds, and lots of frantic digging actions trying to eradicate an annoying, spreading weed that's invaded. It's an exercise still in progress!!"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
