Just had a phone call from the hospital my hand surgery for next Wednesday is cancelled ,
My blood sugar tests came back really high 8.2 So I have to see my diabetic nurse on Friday and they wont do anything till its under 6 , thing is in 12 years I have had it its never been 6 or below so no idea what they can do ,
I'm gutted , I have to have two 6 or below readings before they will go ahead that could take forever , I'm feeling a bit upset at the minute to say the least

Oma - I'm gutted for you as well. You think that is something that should have been checked and sorted long before now.

If the diabetic nurse can't suggest a way of bringing your BS levels down to 6, I'd ask to see the diabetic consultant. Your poor hand needs doing - and constant pain like that is exhausting. Big hug. xxx

Oma, it's no wonder you are upset. Are you able to speak to someone at the diabetic clinic who can help you achieve a lower reading? X

I wonder if they will put you on medication, at least temporarily to lower the readings so you can have the surgery Oma?
I think it's awful that you have got as far as your pre op, before they told you this may be a problem!

Already on two types of meds , I'm not producing insulin they did think I may at some point need insulin injections as i could become type 1 maybe it's come to that point I see my diabetic nurse on Friday see how that goes

Gutted cheesed off and sad that this has happened Oma did they do a blood test at the pre op and found it high then, I know it's such a disappointment

Yes Qwerty but also I had just had lunch and after being away the few days before its possible that is the cause but I don't know , will have to just wait and see ,
I'm ok now about it cant do anything so may as well get on with it , was just looking forward to not having the pain ,
I did have a lot of food I don't often eat like Crisps, Eggs, Danish and cooked breakfast while away , never gave it a second thought
