    Cramps

I'm awake again , not that I couldn't sleep tonight I could have but I have had cramps on and off for past couple hours in my feet , it always starts in my instep and then my big toe , nothing helps so just have to get up , as soon as I think its gone and relax the flipping thing is back Apart from some fruit and a piece of bacon and toast yesterday morning I have had nothing to eat at all today just not felt up too it ,I wonder if that has anything to do with it ? but having said that I get foot cramp often . Any advice or tips more than welcome

I get cramps at night. Sometimes in my feet, sometimes in my thighs. I usually get up and have a cuppa, and hope it wears off.
Wouldn't have thought not eating much has anything to do with it.
I've heard drinking tonic water helps. It contains quinine, which apparently is in tablets that are prescribed for cramps.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Enfys you can't do anything else can you as you can't just lie there , B takes Quinine but still gets them in his thighs , I don't like tonic water but I would drink it if it worked 😊

OH drinks tonic water for it, but I don't think it helps. She finds it's worse if her legs are cold, so will put some long socks on or wrap something around her legs in bed if they start.
For me the only thing which works is jumping out of bed and standing with all my weight on that leg. Fortunately I haven't had any for a while.
I know they are miserable Oma, particularly when they keep you awake!

I was told there is something in bananas that helps cramp so I eat one at least every day. If I forget I get cramp in my foot! I've got a bottle of tonic water in the spare fridge but haven't tried it yet. Forgot it was there until this post reminded me!

I got terrible cramps once when I was in Cuba. I think I was a bit dehydrated (yes, I need to take more water with it!) and a friend who works with competitive swimmers recommended tonic water and bananas, which is what her coach recommended to the swimmers. It certainly stopped the cramps.

                  But I've a feeling Oma can't eat bananas... ?

That's interesting, I've been eating a lot of bananas recently and haven't had cramp for ages. Could that be the answer!

Oma that's such bad luck as I know how much your sleep normally is a bit of a lottery.Luckily I don't often get cramp but know that when I do it is excruciating.I've also heard about tonic water so it's worth a shot.

Could be Enfys, lack of salt is another reason for cramp, not sure how much tonic water you have to drink, presumably without the gin.

Ugh cramp is so horrid I get it in my feet as well, agony. The only cure is to get up and go stand on a cold floor, well thats a tip I was given. Hate it when you snuggle back in bed and you can feel it starting all over again.
