    Heart tracing results.

I've had results of my echocardiogram which were fine. Today I had a letter 're heart tracing (48hrs) & was a little shocked really as I was convinced there was nothing to be concerned about. My GP detected a fast pulse so referred me onto the consultant.

The tracer results show some inconsistencies in my heart rhythm & requests that I start on anticoagulants & beta blockers. The letter is a copy of the one sent to my GP so I'm not sure of all the technicalities. I'll 'phone my surgery tomoro to book with my Dr for a chat. You never know what's round the corner do you? I'll be fine....I'm a little Yorkshire lass. We're a tough breed.😉

Don't concern yourself Nana, I have been on warfarin and beta blockers for years, it is good you have no problems with regards to your heart but if your pulse is irregular they always put you on warfarin to avoid blood clots. I am sure your doctor will explain it so no need to worry, just be pleased they have picked up on it.

I hope your doctor can explain how it all works and eases your mind. Bit of a shock when all seems well. Take care. xx

Try not to worry Nana. I've been on beta blockers for ages because of my palpitations, just a precaution as nothing sinister showed up,on my ECG. It's good that they are on the ball and will take care of any little irregularities xx

Nana - it's far better that the inconsistencies have shown up and can be regulated. I know it's easy to say 'don't worry', but I'm sure you will be reassured when your doctor has translated the medical jargon. Once you've started the medication I bet you'll feel 10 years younger and will be leaping about like a spring lamb. Big hug. xx

Once you've had a chat with your doctor Nana I'm sure you'll be reassured. After all that's what these tests are for to prevent and treat potential problems.

I agree with the other ladies , trouble with these letters is they scare the hell out of you if you don't understand their jargon and meaning , see the Dr and get it all in laymans terms xxx

Thank you all for your reassurances. You're a lovely group of friends. You're right of course, it is good that they're on the ball. I suppose it just took me by surprise.

Plant will I have to go to the anticoagulant clinic weekly? Daisy I just had to smile.....we all know about spring lambs & mint sauce 😱 Ha.

No Nana, if they do put you on anticoagulants, once they have got your blood to the right level it will be about 4/6 weeks. I go to the local hospital but some doctors surgeries deal with the testing themselves. Of course there are other ways of keeping the blood thinner, they are making advancements all the time.

Sorry to hear you were alarmed by your letter Nana, not surprising though, these doctors/hospital letters are scary when you don't fully know what they mean, and why do they always come through letter box at the weekend when the surgery is shut.....my mam is on wharfarin, been on it for as long as I can remember, I know she gets regular tests and has to mention it pre operations etc....

Glad you feel better talking about it Nana....hugs xx

I rang the Drs & the receptionist said they can prescribe the beta blockers but thinks I might have to go to the hospital for the anticoagulant part. She's calling me back later.
