Been awake for hours with leg cramps , every time I thought they had gone I relaxed only for them to attack again , tonight they were in my calf usually I get them in my toes and feet , only way I can stop them is if I get up and walk around . Has anyone got any tips on how to avoid them ? I have tried most things nothing has worked so far , blooming things

People say tonic, but that was for the quinine in it, which I don't think it contains these days? Maybe keeping your calves warm in bed ( those 80s legwarmers would be good!)
I Don't often suffer with these, but if I do I find putting your whole weight on the affected leg works fast“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Oma you have my deepest sympathy as I suffer with the same on a regular basis,if I am lucky enough to feel it coming on I can quickly stand on the leg and walk around,if not it takes ages

Oma I also get these, sometimes so badly that my calves feel bruised in the morning. I don't have any answers except as others have said put weight on it although sometimes I push my feet hard against the end of the bed which is metal. I also get cramps in my neck but only one side. I have been told it is stress but I get them even at times when I have nothing untoward going on.If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

I get these as well Oma, as you can see, you're not alone. I walk about to try and get rid of it.
Hubby's friend used to suffer really bad with them, but he says since he has been eating a lot of bananas, he's not as bad.
Apparently, its the potassium in bananas that help.
Good natural food sources of potassium include:- Bananas
- Avocados
- Nuts, like almonds and peanuts
- Citrus fruits
- Leafy, green vegetables
- Milk
- Potatoes
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Oma, I get these too, sometimes every night for a week then nothing for ages. As other have said, I find just getting up,and walking around helps but have not yet found anything which stops them coming on. It's a horrible feeling."Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss

Thanks ladies I think I may have to visit Dr it's happening regular
Nanto I eat all that food except Bananas , although I love them I'm intolerant to Bananas unfortunately.
I also find the only thing I can do is get up and walk around ,
Gem I'm too hot to wear leg warmers my feet are never cold ,
I can't stand Tonic water but would suffer it if it worked , it started early and just went on and on and like Zizi said your legs feel sore and bruised after , it's worse when it's in my toes and instep 😲
Between that and hubby's snoring there was no chance of sleep , no way was I waking him as he only snores when he's extremely tired , I could have gone in spare room but no point when the cramps startIm not fat just 6ft too small

Hope you find something to help the cramps Oma. I love tonic especially when their is a gin in it.
Do do any of you know how to treat chilblains. I have had what I presume is a chilblain on my little toe for sometime now, even in the summer months. When it flares up it keeps me awake, it is sore, itchy and sometimes it has a sort of blister on it.What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
