    Eye floaters

How I hate them! I got my first one a year or two ago. It has faded, or my brain has adjusted to it, or both. Mostly I forget it is there, unless in a white or pale room. I now have a new one in the other eye, and it is dark. Tiny but dark. I'm sure in time I will ignore it like the other. Just now having them in both eyes is bugging me!
I read that it is more common between the ages of 50 and 70, and in people who have had cataract surgery and the after-cataract laser treatment. I fit the descriptions exactly.

Oh poor you Gem.I know you will get used to it but for a while you'll probably be conscious of it all the time. The good news is it's nothing to worry about.xx

OH had cataract surgeries in his late 40s. If he looks at street lights or similar he gets a halo effect though hasn't mentioned floaters at all.

Must be a bit annoying Gem, but they are nothing to worry about.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I do not have floaters but I do have "tics". My left eye goes into spasm, husband says he cannot see it but yesterday it was almost all day and when I looked in the mirror I could see it. I thought it was my whole eye but it was actually only the bottom of the eye. Very annoying but thankfully not painful.

First time I experienced floaters I panicked and went to Specsavers where I was tested and reassured that all was well , but it is annoying

They are mostly harmless. Danger signs are a lot of new ones at once, and flashing lights.
This could be a sign of retinal detachment, and needs urgent attention.
Apart from that, they are just another sad sign of getting older!

I have had them a few years now but only in one eye, I am used to them but some days they seem more prominent horrible little blighters but I haven't had cataracts, I understood those little spasms were tiredness too Plant

I get them too, and have done for years. I notice them more when I'm tired, but in the larger scheme of things they're just a minor nuisance and I'm grateful they're not causing any harm. Gem's comment above though it a timely reminder that we should get our eyes tested regularly.
