    Personal care of boys

Having three daughters, I have never had to deal with the intimate care of little boys!

I have obviously changed many nappies, both in my job and as a grandmother of three GS, and bathed the GS's when small.

I just put them in the bath with bubbles, wash hair, ears and faces and dry them - until they are old enough to do that themselves. Then they want privacy anyway so you are not involved

DD3 was wondering about care of the penis in little boys.
We are both inexperienced in this, and apparently SIL wasn't taught as child so doesn't know either.
We know it's important not to force the foreskin or to do anything too soon. But we also know it needs to be done for hygiene, to avoid infection, and that boys need to learn to care for themselves in this way.

I told DD I would ask here as many of you have sons.

    Thank you!

We gently cleaned the boys , then when they were old enough to understand showed them how,
The foreskin isn't as flexible when they are little so has to be done gently and in stages as they get older.
As long as they understand it's part of cleaning themselves and shown I wouldn't worry too much ,
A bit like cleaning teeth and explaining the back of the teeth is as important as the front.

My SIL was circumcised as a baby so had no clue but DD researched it when GS was a baby
Im not fat just 6ft too small

I'm afraid I don't know either. I left DS's personal care and instructions to their dad, and the same with our grand sons.

Our were shown how to clean themselves when they were little.
As they got older i don't know if they did what we taught them.
Knowing my two, who are both very keen on personal hygiene, they probably do as they were taught.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
