Pain relief patches

Sorry to hear about your hip Clover. I remember the intensity of the associated pain which nothing seemed to relieve. I found an ice pack helped and I had a little spiky massage ball which I used. I have to admit I used some of my SiL’s tramadol when I couldn’t cope!
I was told not to use the paracetamol with caffeine as that can have an adverse effect Oma! Got a real telling off when the nurse saw I was taking it!
I do hope you don’t have to wait too long for a new hip Clover and that the shingles is clearing up. X

WeeGranny, I don't think I've ever taken paracetamol with caffeine, but it makes you wonder what other over the counter remedies can have an adverse effect.

        Clover, how are you today?

My DS has just been diagnosed with 4 herniated discs at the top of his spine. I think he's starting physio when he goes back from here at the weekend. From what he's told me , it's been very painful and he's struggled to move his arm some days! My neck has been painful for the past couple of days so I think I'm coming out in sympathy with him!

As my granny used to say : Auld age dissnae come itsel!

Oh contacted the GP yesterday and he has now prescribed a higher dose of the patch.
He started her on the lowest dose and knew she may need it increased. She is on her 3rd week now and no improvement at all.

Gem, I do hope the higher dose of patches works for your OH. Constant pain like that is very tiring, and it must interfere with her golf. I know how important that is to her for her overall well-being, and essential exercise.

Despite increasing the patch dosage to 15mg they are not helping much.
OH has now been prescribed oramorph liquid in addition, so we will see how that goes.

Gem, it must be very upsetting for both of you that S is in pain. I hope the oramorph helps. Sending hugs. xxx

It's morphine taken in liquid form Plant.
                          My DD3 takes it also.

It's had very little effect on the pain Oma

We think the pain is nerve pain in which case opioids dont really work. Hopefully when she gets another appointment he will try a drug which is more effective against nerve pain.
