Eyes - yes they’re troublesome. I had to have surgery 15 months ago for a retinal bleed and injections in my eye every two months. Ugh.

That’s had the effect of making my cataracts a lot worse so I had the worst one removed on Monday. I cannot fault Kings College hospital they were excellent. But I’m now struggling with eyes that don’t work together - until the second one is done in a few months.
I feel lost to death without my specs but they no longer work so I’m barging my way round with two odd eyes.

Sum1, I well remember that in-between time when one eye was in full working order, but the other was still waiting for the transformation. It's a very strange feeling.

One solution is to call into your opticians and ask them to put a plain lens in the good eye side and then continue to wear your glasses until the second eye is done.

Or, you could just pop the unwanted lens out , but that might feel and look a bit odd.

Whatever you do, the brain is very good at adjusting.

I had around 4months between my cataract ops I think. It seems ages ago now, I remember them saying I was young for that op!

Sum, one of my Aqua friends had a retinal bleed a few months ago. Those injections seem to be helping her.

My brother in law had his first one removed on the 3 of January ,
He said it feels so strange and has to keep closing his un treated eye to see things properly 😁

I had my first one done in September last year and the second in October. It's amazing the difference it's made to my vision. I still need glasses for reading, but the consultant advised me to buy pair from a supermarket/chemist as they'd be cheaper than going to an optician. When I had my post op check up at the optician's, they were pleased with my vision and advised carrying on the routine suggested by the consultant. She suggested using a heated eye mask, which soothes the eyes and keeps the oil ducts clear. It does work, 10 minutes sitting down is no hardship. The other thing is do, is soak a couple of cotton balls in hot water and hold them over my eyes for a few minutes several times a day, again keeps the oil ducts clear.

The only problem I have , is that one eye has become very dry and I use artificial tears regularly throughout the day and ointment at night. This started after I'd flown to visit DS at Christmas. I'm convinced the cabin air/pressure had something to do with it. Thankfully, the regime is working and the pain has gone!

A friend has had both eyes done at the same time!
