The Freeman's have a charity organisation called Daft as a brush ,
it's mini busses driven by volunteers that go all over picking patients up and taking them home again but long journeys like that must still be stressful I imagine ,

Oma, that sounds like a wonderful charity. We have got a few groups of volunteer drivers who will take a patient to and from hospital, but the hospital-organised patient transport often means a patient who lives a long way from the hospital spending ages in the transport, which is tiring in itself.

That sounds such a good scheme Oma.
Someone I knew used to volunteer as a driver for York Wheels, which was something similar. I must check if that still exists, it was some years ago.

It was set up many years ago by a man who had gone through Cancer and understood the difficulty of getting to the Freeman.

Patients living in York, and many outlying places, have to travel to Leeds on a daily basis for radiotherapy treatment. We can't have that in York. Luckily as well as OH I had a few other people who drove me there over the 3 weeks. I think there is some scheme to get patients there otherwise, but it's slow.

                It is Gem ,
I remember my Sister when she was having Chemo if we were not there, had to use patient transport and it took hours to get home as they stopped all over picking up and dropping off,
Not ideal when you feel so ill.
Beauty with Daft as a brush ,
They have mini busses for each area and those coming a long distance like Berwick they use Cars .

I think there is a voluntary scheme in our town for driving patients to hospital.
