I apparently need these according to my doctor. I have been taking them for a month, but My hands and feet have been so painful. I wasn’t sure whether it was the medication or my osteoporosis causing the pain so I didn’t take one last night. Today I have hardly any pain so I assume it’s the statins. Has anyone else had similar and was the relief as quickly noticed?

I haven't taken them Grauntie but I do know a lot of people do have problems with side effects.
After one of my check ups a couple of years ago they phoned and said I should go on them.
I asked them to give me 3 months, and test again. I wasn't at all keen to go on them, but don't want stroke of course, difficult decision.
Thereafter apparently at future blood tests all was fine and I don't need them!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Grauntie, I know a few people who have had bad reactions to them and have stopped taking them. I was put on them years ago when they were prescribed for much less "bad cholesterol" than they are now. My blood test results can't have changed much as I'm still on the same dose. I went along with it given that my mother died of a stroke, but I would resist any increase in dose.

I resisted them for many years at my last GP practice. In respect, I was being bloody minded! However, changes in cholesterol levels, and a nicer GP, persuaded me to start them when I moved here. I've been on them for a couple of years now without any problem and my cholesterol has gone down to acceptable levels. I signed up for a health research thingy last year and at the check up, the nurse remarked that my cholesterol was the lowest she'd seen all day! So they obviously work!
I'm afraid that I can't say whether the pain is being caused by the meds or your osteoporosis GM. I'd try a few days off them and if the pain clears, go back to your GP. You might just need another brand of Statin. Good luck!Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Me and hubby have been taking them for years, neither of us has had any side effects.
Both of us were taking Simvastatin, but when i was diagnosed with high blood pressure, they changed mine to Atorvastsatin.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
