    You have done well Gem.
Every day is a day closer to full recovery.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Gem, the physio mentioned a new knee the other week, he said I would be back to normal in 6 months, I have my doubts! You are brave watching an operation on YourTube!!! You are doing well, you made the right choice.xxxx

Lizzie, are you thinking about going ahead with a new knee? Constant pain is so draining, even a recovery that takes over 6 months is worth considering. xx

Daisy, I would want to know how it all works with lipedema before it went ahead, I wear support tights, daily, how would I cope without them etc etc

Certainly a lot to consider Lizzie.

Admin post this on the knee recovery forum from time to time. It's a good reminder and reassuring.

We continue to read many posts from people in the group questioning why they haven't fully recovered from MAJOR surgery after four weeks, six weeks, ten weeks, twelve weeks etc. They then ask why? What could they be doing wrong?
They blame themselves and compare themselves to others which in turn makes them feel inadequate and leads to a downward spiral where they feel depressed and useless.
It is clear that recovery comes as quite a shock to most of us.
At this point take a step back and remember that YOU are not exactly the same as the person you are comparing yourself with. For example you may differ in age, you may have different health issues, you may not have the same level of fitness, you may not have the same support at home to the person you are comparing yourself with etc.
You are an amazing person recovering from major surgery. You are NOT a failure.
Recovery from this type of surgery can take som
e of us a very long time, two years or more for some of us.

Gem, what wise words from that Admin. You could apply this to any major (or less major) surgery in my opinion. I knew a physio who boasted to everyone that she had a double hip replacement and had completely recovered in less than 3 months! I'm sure that really (didn't) encourage her clients!
