Has anyone heard of telogen effluvium?
I hadn't until I started looking into causes for my thinning hair.
I have always had thick hair, sometimes too thick I felt!
A couple of weeks or so ago I realised that I was clearing hairs from my hairbrush and comb far more often than was usual. With long hair which is darkish, you notice them a lot.
Then OH commented that she had cleared up a lot of loose hair from the bedroom carpet around the spot I usually do my hair.
This then made me take more notice and I realised that my hair dried much more quickly now, and my bun is smaller when I put my hair up.
My hair, wet or dry just doesn't feel like my hair any more, as it feels so much thinner.
As we all know, gone are the days when it is easy to just make a Drs appointment to check things out.
I did some searching and I am pretty sure that this condition is the cause.
It comes generally 2 to 4 months after an illness, shock or having a baby. Strange diets can cause it too,
I was very ill for a few weeks in the summer as you may remember. I ate almost nothing for a month, so I think this is my bodies response to all that.
I have also lost a tooth and had dry socket since then, so I suppose I should expect some consequences to all those things.
It should stop shedding in time and eventually thicken up again, although not necessarily to the the previous thickness.
My poor mum has had very fine fair her whole life, but mine has been thick like my dad's, so this is very unusual.
