    A Pamper Day

I mentioned elsewhere about going for a Spa Day with my DIL1 last Friday. It was a really amazing place so I'd like to share it with you (unfortunately just virtually, although it would be a wonderful place to have a meet up!)

All the spas I've been to before (not many, to be honest) have been attached to hotels, but this is purely a day spa and a members' club. It was palatial with every facility you could think of and many I'd never even heard of.

We felt relaxed as soon as we'd changed into the nice fluffy robes and stuffed our everyday clothes into lockers. We relaxed on comfortable loungers by the main pool while we had a drink. The sun was shining and it felt as though we were on an exotic beach. We chatted and people watched, but it was such a calm, quiet space I could easily have fallen asleep - no offence to DIL's conversation!

We had an early lunch as I had a massage booked for 1.30. The food was amazing - a huge salad bar was the main attraction for me! Feeling very full we went and relaxed in the terrarium. I had no idea what it was! It had very low lighting and shaped beds covered in little pyramid-shaped ceramic tiles. I thought these were going to be therapeutic, but not comfortable - but they were gently heated and you felt as though you were floating. Total silence apart from a trickling fountain.

I doubted if it was possible to be even more relaxed and still awake but the massage proved me wrong. Half an hour later, I floated out on cloud 9 and spent 20 minutes or so on the terrarium-type beds in the treatment area. Then went off to find DIL. She had taken a walk round the grounds and found several new features that had appeared over the winter.

One of the many pools had some really powerful waterjets and we spent quite a while going "Oooohhh" and "aaahhhh" before passing on the icy cold plunge pool and moving on to the Dead Sea salts pool. Twenty minutes of weightlessness was lovely - but we felt tired when we got out. By then we were quite sleepy, and went back to 'base' to chill out until it was time to go home.

Although there were people around if didn't feel either busy or crowded and it was very quiet and serene - A lovely special day. I felt very spoiled and lucky.

Daisy, that all sounds wonderful What a lovely day you both had!

It sounds perfect and just what you deserved.

DD2 (pre baby days) was a member of a place a bit like that, and I have been a couple of times as her guest. It has the most relaxing leather covered heated water beds to relax on. I often picture being on one when I am stressed!!!

Thank you both. Such unashamed luxury does make me feel slightly guilty though, especially when so many people are facing huge financial problems, to say nothing of all those suffering unimaginable lives in war ravaged Ukraine and elsewhere.

That sounds so perfect Daisy .
Thing is you not going to the spa isn’t going to make those peoples lives any better is it , so don’t feel guilty about something you can’t change for them .
Enjoy the experience while you can as we don’t know what fate has in mind for us do we xxx

Oma - thank you. I know you're right, and I loved every minute, but the world is such an unequal place.

Daisy, I understand what you mean.
Our family stressing about a Florida holiday when there is so much sadness and the world so unequal isn't right.
As Oma says though these things matter to us individually and us forgoing them, or not enjoying them makes no difference to the poor people who are suffering.
