    Trying to keep BP down!

This week I am to have my annual medication review.
I had a phone one last year and haven't had my BP taken for two years. I am on BP meds.
I need to go for blood taking this week and take my BP and fill in an online thing of some sort.

I am SO stressed with various events regarding the sale of my mothers property I can't seem to stop feeling anxious and angry! I took my BP last night and it was very high. I will take it a few times over the next few days and see if I can get better reading to submit.

Short of being magically whisked away to desert island with my family, cocktails and chocolate, I can't imagine feeling relaxed any time soon!!

Gem I have high BP to the extent I am on 3 different pills and to make it worse as soon as I walk into the nurses office it shoots up as I get so stressed .

I have tried everything I know of to relax before I go it never works .

It differs from day to day , never low but some days are higher than others same as what time of day i take it
Im not fat just 6ft too small

It's not easy is it Oma?!

I took it three times when we got in this afternoon. Still high but a lot less high than yesterday! The second reading was the best. I will take it over the next few days to see how it goes.

I've stopped taking my blood pressure at home.
I just rely on the pills and my reviews at the clinic.

Gem, hope yours is ok when you go to doctors.

Nan2, I'm not going to the doctors. I have been told to take my own BP as part of the review, I send that in and fill in some questions, go to the new stadium which has a blood taking department. The surgery check my bloods result and the details I send in . They then contact me if they need to.
That is my review this year.

Gem - no wonder you're feeling stressed and anxious. If you can'g get what you think is a realistic reading, I'd just explain to the nurse that you are going through a particularly stressful time and would it be a good idea to wait for <however long you think> before trying to get what would feel like a normal reading. There's nothing to be gained if your BP is high because of the current stress and they change your meds and then they don't agree with you, or bring it down too low.

I'm due for my annual MOT but haven't even had time to book a blood test yet, let alone an appointment with the nurse. It seems doctors don't actually see patients any more!!!

I don’t have an annual review and because I haven’t seen a doctor for ages I haven’t had a blood pressure check. In the past it has usually been slightly high but no tablets required. My OH used to take his every day and take the list of readings into the doctors.

I haven’t had my BP taken for a couple of years. Our surgery is still in lockdown apart from the nurse who gave the flu vaccinations.. Presumably she is expendable in order for them to reach the maximum target for the fullest payment! From the Facebook page it seems that the whole area is the same so changing surgeries isn’t an option.

We are getting incredibly frustrated with the Vendor of the ground floor flat we are supposed to be buying. After various issues we thought we were all set to exchange any day now but she appears to have vanished off the face of the earth. Our solicitor is away on holiday with no one overseeing her workload. Our buyer really wants to be in before the schools resume in September so it’s getting very frustrating and hard to find any enthusiasm for decluttering and/or packing.

I keep telling myself it will it will all work out but probably best not to attempt taking my BP at home in case the machine explodes!

                xx
