    Hernias.

I'm off to see the hernia surgeon this afternoon. This is a follow up from when I saw the hernia specialist a few months back at a different hospital. I need an op' but with a more specialised surgeon than last time. It's because I've been operated on that area before. It's an abdominal one. No worries.

Bearing in mind my DD1 will need an operation on her parotid gland, (not sure when that will be) I feel as tho' I should plan around this in case she needs me. It's a difficult one, because as time passes the hernia grows.

Wish we were like cars & could go in for MOTs. Get fixed then run along nicely til the next service.😂

Nana - forgive me if this doesn't sit comfortably with you, but I really think you have to do what's best for you. The longer you wait the more difficult the recovery. If your operation and your DDs happen to clash you will both get through it somehow or other. People rally round in a crisis.

You really do need to take care of yourself! xxx

Thank you everyone. The specialist was very caring & straight talking. He laid out the pros & con's & gave me a thorough examination. I told him I was having a polyp removed next week & showed him a copy of the results of my last one.

Long story short I have an appointment in about 12wks with him after I've given it some more thought & I know where I stand after the results from the colonoscopy. He agreed that was a good decision. Basically is it painful enough to warrant an op or is it manageable? I could have the op's but there's no guarantee it could happen again ( like I believe your B's did Oma?).

Daisy I value everyone's opinions so please be as honest as you like. I much prefer that. I came out feeling better than I did going in. I believe I have too much going on right now to take on anything else medical.

It sounds as though it can wait a while then, Nana. Good that you felt better when you came out x

Nana - the important thing is making the best choices for you, and I think that's what you've done. You know yourself better than anyone. Well done.

Thanks. I'm off to another medical related app't soon so I'm feeling a tad overwhelmed by everything I think. Rome wasn't built in a day as they say.x

                      Thanks everyone.

I'm tired now but plan to write about stuff later in the week. I hope it will benefit other Grans when I write about yesterday's app't.

Tomoro I go to the dental hospital re my jaw physio. It's posh name is Mandibular joint (jaw) disfunction, I think. A few exercises & as they say in Yorks 'Ar'll be rate'. 😉

Daisy I think you can understand now why I delayed my hernia decision.

Nana - of course. It was the only sensible thing to do really. Oh dear, but I'm sure you will Ar'll rate, or as I'd say "Ow reet"! xxx

Well my next appointment with the hernia specialist is tomorrow and I'm still no wiser what to do. Although I felt better having made the decision to postpone the operation on my last visit, he really worried me.

Now I know it's something they do now... give the worst case scenario, but I think he went a bit OTT. He was telling me how one patient is still left with an external 'hole'/wound that's not healing. On & on he went. He's put me off if I'm honest. The only trouble is discomfort & trying to get clothes to fit. I look about 7mths pregnant.

Then there's all this negative press about the mesh they use. It seems that the last hernia repair might not have worked. So this makes matters more complicated. Last scar was a horizontal one but he'd do a vertical one this time. Then there's no guarantee this one would work, ie it could re-occur.

Oh I don't know. Feeling as I do, without having to make this decision, I find it hard at the moment making the smallest of choices. All I can do is talk to him & see where we go from there.

I know people who have successful hernia ops. Nana, you can only take their advice if you are not in pain.
