Sunshine - our surgery used to write and invite patients to go in for flu jabs - they had Saturday clinics. But a couple of years ago they stopped sending them - there's a reminder online, I think, but that's all. I presume the money they get for each jab isn't worth the cost of sending out letters! Cynical, I know!

We were told by a member of our WI yesterday that to try and use your surgery for Flu Vaccine because the Practice have to buy their vaccine and if we go to the chemist that vaccine is paid for by the government and the Practice are left with vaccine that they have to throw away. The three dates we have been given, one (my surgery) is fully booked, it usually is a walk-in on a Sat. and the sister Practice is a drive away and is a walk-in clinic. Unless they have another day at my surgery I shall go to the village chemist. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

It used to be quite a social occasion when I worked at a surgery. Queues of people with one arm exposed chattering and excited to meet up with old school friends etc. Not so much fun the year there was a shortage. One man actually accused me of potentially killing his wife! The ones who got most hysterical hadn’t had flu jabs in previous years. They wanted one because they couldn’t have one!

Plant - we stopped using our surgery when they kept running out of vaccine, even thought they'd invited us to go there for the jab.
Sunshine - I agree! Our surgery don't seem to do that, and of course some people don't have a mobile phone or a computer.

We had ours at the local chemist last year as our surgery had run out of vaccine. When next at the surgery I was invited to have the jab so I’m guessing the chemist didn’t inform them. This time we have tried to make an appointment but told to go back in a few weeks! The receptionist did say they receive funding for jabs given.Women are like tea bags; you never know how strong they are until they are put in hot water.
