    Pneumonia jabs

My OH has been invited by her GPs surgery to have one, as she is 65. I think she should take it up. It's a one off as far as I can tell.
Have any of our members had one?

We’ve both had ours, Gem. No after effects for either of us, we’ve also had the shingles when that was offered too.

Gemini I had mine 3/4/yrs ago and whilst I had no lasting problems it was given at the same time as my flu jab and if you remember I was very ill as the strength of both the doses where far too strong.
Having it done as a single dose will not cause any problems I'm sure.

We don't get them here Gemini, don't get the shingles one either, just the flu jab once a year.

I think the shingles one is over 70 here Lizzie.

OH and I are the same age but I haven't been offered the pneumonia one yet (we are not at at the same practice) I am due my annual review soon so maybe they will do it then.

Gem - well done to your OH. I think it's well worth having. I had mine ages ago, and can't remember exactly what the protection is (bacterial and/or viral pneumonia). But a good friend of ours died of pneumonia in his early 60s. He was a fit healthy man, didn't smoke, didn't drink much, and lead a reasonably active life, but pneumonia is no respecter of such things.
