    Nora Batty

I have had to revisit my doctor today over my swollen feet and ankles as they are only slightly better, and I am in Spain for a few months shortly, I was told it looks like my lymphatic system is much slower than it should so the lymphatic fluid is not getting through my veins so has suggested compression stockings and I have to see my nurse practitioner to be measured and check my blood flow, this has gone down like lead balloon as I feel a Nora Batty mode coming on , my OH has kinked with laughing as I thought stocking meant suspenders an I wondered where would I get them from, I could only think of Anne Summers , but apparently they stay up on their own we shall see🦵🏻👠
Now Gem might be able to answer this do beauty salons do lymphatic drainage massage or is it a more specialist type thing Dd suggests I try this

I would try reflexology Qwerty. With a reputable therapist, not one on a Groupon offer - some of those have just done very short courses, designed for treating friends and family, not paying clients.

Reflexology helps in 2 ways. The foot massage aspect helps with the swelling, and when the therapist works your lymphatic system ( part of the treatment) that helps too, getting the lymph moving. I would recommend a course of 3 treatments, then if you feel it is for you, monthly maintenance treatments would be beneficial.

You could obviously book treatments with me if we lived closer Qwerty, but there will be plenty about in your area I'm sure .

Some, like me have their own business and often work from home and/or mobile. Some are based in Spas, salons and hotels.

Just don't let them wrinkle down round your ankles Qwerty! Can see you walking along the beach in Spain hauling your stockings up......not a good look in the sun!!!
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Qwerty - yes, you're far too glamorous for the Nora Batty look, but I love the idea of Ann Summers suspenders, and perhaps some lacy French knickers.

Seriously, reflexology does sound a good option.

Hope the reflexology works for you Qwerty. For the first time, my ankles have been a bit swollen.

You’ll never look like Nora, Qwerty 😀. Seriously, they are a devil to get on as they’re so tight....you have to ease your toes in then roll, them up. P had to wear them when he had his dvt, you should have seen the contortions we both got in 😂😂. Anyone peeking through the window would have wondered what on Earth we were doing 😮😮

I agree Qwerty is no Norah Batty lookalike, far too glamorous!

Is it similar to pulling on those white stockings we have to wear during an operation?

That’s right Gem. Really tight, no danger of them wrinkling 😃

Qwerty if they are the same stockings my neighbour is supposed to wear there is no danger of them slipping down thus embracing the Nora Batty look.
She said they were a devil of a job to get on but she gave in at the first attempt. She has discarded them which I think is foolish after all your GP wouldn’t advise wearing them if it wasn’t necessary.
Reflexology is a good idea , it is so relaxing and I’m sure it helps with the general health of your feet and legs .

You could wear trousers to hide them Qwerty.

I have had to wear support tights and sleeves for 25 years or more, believe me, they won't wrinkle if they are measured in the right way. You should get the wraps first to get the fluid out of your feet and ankles then get measured for the stockings, but, as I mentioned before, we get very good treatment here in Holland, I go for MLD (manual lymph drainage) every week, I went yesterday and really felt it doing good as I didn't go at all last week with it being so warm. Good luck and don't panic!!!!
