    My poor feet

I havnt looked after my feet and as I get older it shows. I wore stilettos when they were in fashion well still are, but I stood up in them at work for sometimes 11/12 hours in hairdressing, till Scolls became fashionable but still went out and danced all night in high heels. I’ve seen my feet change over the years with corns and a bunion, hard skin the lot , I am ashamed of myself but I always thought feet would sort themselves out
After using some new shoes and many previous ones before that I realise my feet are rubbish, I’ve looked on the internet and there are shoes you can buy for bunions, Camilla and Helen Mirrren wear them, thought if there good enough for them they are good enough for me, how wrong I was £150 a pair, so going to find some soft real leather shoes and think I might need a wide fit too , how I wished I’d looked after my feet , I also find my left foot more swollen hence the wide foot sizes , anyone else suffer like me

I always buy extra wide shoes from JD Williams I have very wide feet , you can send for a foot measurer for free so you can see what width you need .
I use a Scholl Pedi on my heals every morning to stop hard skin and use either Vaseline or Neautrogena foot care to keep them soft , its part of my daily routine now ,I have too because of my Diabetes

I find I cant wear heels for long now it kills my toes as you say Qwerty a life time of wearing tight high heels causes so many foot problems
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Qwerty, you are not on your own.i wore stilettos, well still do sometimes.
I can't wear totally flat shoes, as they make my legs ache. I have to wear heels, even if they are small heels.
Every night i use Boots foot cream, or Eucerin foot cream. Keeps the skin smooth.
A few months ago,i said i was going to have the chiropodist, but haven't got round to it yet.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Perhaps a podiatrist/chiropractor could help you be more comfortable Qwerty?

I'm quite lucky, mum always bought me Start Rite proper shoes as a child, and I have never wanted to wear high heels or pointed styles, as I value my foot comfort too much!

I am certainly going to take some of your advice on board ladies , I slways had decent shoes as a child but when you are old enough and have a thing for high heels it’s all down hill or uphill depending which way your walking 🚶‍♀️👠👠👡👢

I think bunions run in the family not necessarily bad footwear. I am lucky not to have problems other than occasionally having to treat hard skin on my heels.

Ouch, Qwerty. I used to love my stilettos and pointed toes but can’t wear any sort of heel now. Not because of my feet but my old knees. I don’t have too much problem with my feet and did have a few visits to a chiropodist a little while ago. However, after watching what she did...not a lot....I invested in a battery operated foot care system and use that every two or three weeks. Luckily no bunions but I now go for pure comfort when I buy shoes, I have found Hotter to be good for me. Achey feet are really not good, hope you can get them sorted.

I am a martyr to my feet but with me it's not because of shoes I would have worn during my teenage fashion conscience years I have always had issues with painful feet .
New shoes always make my feet ache at best , at worse I have lots of blisters . What ever type of shoe I wear the result is the same As my dear dad would have said ….." You have to wear new shoes a bit before you can get them on "

Luckily I don't have bunions but I do have arthritis in both my big toes and in a few of my other toes so walking after a while becomes painful . OH brought me a foot spa and it helps relive the aching feet but sadly not the arthritis .

I’ve been told that because we wear sandals and such for in the summer our feet get soft and then when you go back into shoes and boots your feet are more sensitive, not sure I buy that

Nor me, Qwerty! I think shoes need to be made to measure. I know some people do but the cost is astronomical.

I loved stilettos, too, and thought nothing of walking 2 miles in them to get to the nearest bus stop when I was going out! Then I'd dance all night and would still wear heels for work the next day! I'm lucky, my feet have survived fairly well, but one is larger than the other and that has got a bit battered through being cramped in shoes that fitted the other foot perfectly!
